The iconic Hollong Bungalow is the perfect retreat for those seeking an immersive jungle experience. Nestled deep within the wilderness, it offers an unparalleled blend of comfort and nature. My two-day stay here was nothing short of a lifetime experience--one that will forever remain etched in my memories.

Typically tourists visiting Jaldapara area try first to book Holong Tourist Lodge which 5 rooms to offer for public (you can book online as it opens exactly a month before the stay date and vanishes in a very short time) and 3 for VIPs (booked by Forest Dept.). The only issue is practically you can only book for one day at a time and wait for your luck for the second day in case you want to stay there for a couple of days. Further, Thursdays are closed and no booking is made available for the day. Hence, we stayed there first one day (Wednesday) and then shift to Aranya Jaldapara Resort (Tourism property) (Thursday) and then came back to Holong Tourist Bungalow on Friday. The tourists must know that there drivers are fully charged for the food and stay (about 1000 per day for the driver is charged - lunch (300) + dinner and breakfast (500) and stay (200). The driver and vehicle is a must as you stay inside the jungle and in case of you want to come out for some work, you will not get any transport. Please carry photocopy of all travelers going to stay in the Holong tourist Lodge as no photocopying facility is available inside. The entry gate person (Bachhu babu) will insist on the documents to make entry in the register. The travelers are allowed to enter at 11AM on first-come-first-serve basis as rooms with view windows are provided to first comers. The place is not well maintained for sure but that is substituted by the calm and quiet environment there with the viewing of birds and animals near the Lodge in the morning and evening. During evenings, they help you to view animals using search lights. You can see Indian Gaurs, elephants, rhinos, sambar deer, peacocks, jungle fowl, etc. The advantage you get for staying here is that they make all arrangements for the safari vehicle and elephant safari if you provide them the online booking slips. Otherwise, you have to go the forest booking counter near Jaldapara Tourism property (about 3-4km drive from the Holong) and make payment for safari and arrange for vehicles. The food is good and the staff are very nice. We enjoyed our jeep Safari as well as Elephant Safari from the Holong Tourist Lodge. We love this place as we can find many birds including Hornbills (Pied and Greater).

We didn't stay here but we visited this place during our safari. Sunday we have visited and monday the fire accident happened. It's really sad. Beautiful view. Surrounded by green forest. U can definitely see wild animals.

Best point of dooars You can watch each and every animal with your hotel room if you are lucky enough as front facing rooms are room no 5 and room no 8. Room number 5 was best. Even if you missed these Two rooms you can go to common room and watch them. Must do elephant Safari in morning you will get your lifetime experience.

Poor maintenance of rooms, too much costly in all aspect. Room Base fare - Rs 4000 (2 person) Extra 12% Gst have to pay in the lodge. Per head per day food cost Rs 900 Entry fee per head per day Rs 200 Car entry fee Rs 480 Food will serve according to authority not on your choice. Animal may seen depending on chance not confirmed. So better to take a resort outside & just take a safari.

It was almost 8 years later, I got the opportunity of a room in the Hollong bungalow. We got room number 8, the same room we stayed in earlier. The room condition has become worse. The locks are not properly working, A/C got damaged, no toiletries kit like othe lodges in WBTDCL. The food is awesome.

What a thrilling experience it was!!! Staying inside the jungle and can see the animals from your room (room no 5)what else you want. Amazing experience during my stay in hollong. Hospitality is commendable. Quality and taste of the food was delicious. But evening snacks items were not good. But overall experience is above 5stars.

Overrated. Visited in March, 2024. Pros: 1. "The most" discussed forest bunglow in North Bengal. To get a booking is to get a lottery. So, staying there is a matter that has to be experienced. 2. Watch the glittering eyes of animals at night from the common room, where the personnel uses search light to spot animals at night. A rare experience. 3. Watch animals from the compound as salt pits are kept on the other side of the open jungle. Cons: 1. You can't get out of the compound even at the daytime. So, people who loves bird watching and photography have a very limited scope to explore. 2. During the time of safari at JNP, safari gypsies are taken to Hollong Bungalow Complex to make a halt. So, people keep on comming, making chaos, taking pictures. Unacceptable, atleast when you are paying Rs. 4480/- to stay for one day and people are allowed to breach the tranquil environment of jungle. Verdict: Can be stayed once or twice to experience. But not so good to make recurrent visit.
