Olive Branch Farm

As we are entering the building after about 5hrs journey fresh passion fruit juice quench our thirst.|Both the rooms are exquisitely designed to give a refreshing change from our routine. Based on the tribal theme the building was constructed with utmost care and love.|Even the bathrooms are big, beautiful and awe inspiring.|All meals were exclusive and superb. The breakfast is almost trying to be ala carte to the extent possible but most of us stuck to host's plan with our options |Never realised how our time vanished without any notice as we were immersed ourselves in nature's fold|We thanked out host's for all their care and love shown to us during our entire stay. We return to our own places with a lingering thought of return to this rustic place for a longer stint.

Our stay in Olive Branch Farm will be always cherished as we are fully satisfied with the accommodation with its facilities, awesome food mostly cooked with the vegetable products of the farm and the cozy hospitality provided by the owner couple Avishek and Sangita. ||The season was that of blooming Palash / Flame of the Forest at its best.||The most surprising part is its building structure so meticulously planned with great artistry details using all local materials and dried tree branches to make it esthetically pleasing. The bathroom complex was the part of the building I loved the most. ||We celebrated our father's centenary birthday there and it was a grand evening ending up with marinated chicken cooked in Sal Leaf packets in the bonfire near the sitting arrangement. The flavour added a ceremonial touch to our stay.

Authentically with mother earth, an artistic extravaganza in terms of design with comfort and pure peace is what you get to experience here. The mud house is totally unique and an experience to remember forever! The owner power couple ensure to make it even more comfortable with every possible support that they can with their simplicity. Also dont miss their farm to table cuisine which is pure gastronomical.

All 5-Stars in my rating means I'm overwhelmed. A trip which had no expectations except spending few days with few of the closest ones is itself a luxury specially in today's context. However the moment we walked in and greeted by our hosts our smiles become bigger with each passing moments. You can cherish the ultimate luxury which is not available even in any 7* properties across the globe, but your heart must be trained to enjoy this kind of luxury. So don't be judgemental, you can always challenge my ratings by your own first hand experiences.

When you want tranquility amidst comfort and rustic nature visit Olive Branch. Avishek was very welcoming, friendly and helpful all through ..they had an excellent cook. Inspite of my food restrictions I had a great time. The sprawling farm is very interesting.. we plucked fruits and vegetables as if it was our kitchen garden.|The room was very clean, beautiful bathroom- a must for me.

A fantastic weekend gateway for the city folks. Only four and half hours drive from Kolkata. Also, there are quite a few super fast and express trains from Kolkata connecting the place. What attracts you most is the stunning architecture of the Home Stay @ the Olive Branch Farm. Every square centimeter of the building oozes out the passion of the owners; a suave IT couple who started this all in a jiffy! The house is constructed with local materials and other than the washrooms and kitchen everything is made of mud. There's no air conditioning within the rooms and initially I too was sceptical going in middle of March in Purulia while temperature zoom past 35degC but surprisingly the moment we entered inside the room there's at least a difference of 8/9deg in temperature. Other than this all necessary creature comforts for city dwellers are available. The rooms are huge with comfy two Queen size double beds , reminds one of the chalets and cottages of Bali or Phuket. And the washrooms are just out of this world. Stayed many a night in different top graded Hotels, resorts and farmhouses in India as also abroad I have never come across such a beautiful and tastefully designed thing before. The food here is a gastronomic delight. We had one night the country chicken, another lunch of Black Bengal chevon but the high water mark was the slowly- roasted country chicken wrapped in Sal pata with minimal spices. It matched so well with the Mohua, a local brew now being marketed internationally by the Jharkhand government in collaboration with the French wine makers. Another very impressive factor here is the warm hospitality of the owner duo Sangeeta and Avishek not to speak of the cook Rajib and the Santhal couple Punu Da and Janaki Di! They take all the care to keep you indulged in lotos eating. Finally, a mini haat is only 400 meters away from the Farm which is on Thursday's. We went there bought some pork chops and got it cooked on site in typical Santhal cuisine style.Washed it with the rice brew Haria. Instantly the inside body temperature went down and started feeling heavenly. We recommend atleast three nights stay to get the feel of the place as also the surroundings. Charida, the famous Chau Mask village, Jaichandi hills of Satyajit Ray's Hirak Rajar Deshe fame , upper and lower dams on the Ayodhya hills and last but not the least Pakbira Jain temples of the 11th century are must see places. After a long time discovered a destination worth recommending.

I loved this place and definitely visit again. Aesthetically pleasing and spacious rooms (only two rooms though, 1 room at each floor with capacity of 4+4), calm & quite environment, clean and tidy surroundings, family or couple friendly ambience, warm behaviour of the owner and staffs, homely foods, absence of unruly people are the few highlights of this place. And one more thing this is not just a stand alone guest house, it is a proper farm with 7/8 hectares (15 Bigha) area. So you will find plenty of space to roam around. Cons: They don't have AC.

A Trip to Purulia And had the most amazing time at Olive Branch Farm. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Exploring the farm and got to try some fresh dragon fruit, which was delicious! The stay was super luxurious and comfortable and the staff was incredibly friendly. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. If you're looking for a peaceful and unforgettable getaway, I highly recommend Olive Branch Farm.
