SPOT ON 44698 Himalayan Foothills Homestay

After reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor, my friends and I decided to stay at Himalayan Foothills Homestay for three nights during our journey to Bhutan. And trust me, it was the best decision of our trip. ||||This place is easily accessible from Bagdogra Airport (15-20 mins from Bagdogra to Shivmandir and then you can take Toto to reach the Homestay). Also the local shops, restaurants and City Mall are also nearby(can be reached within 15mins).||||My booking with Online aggregrator was shifted to some other hotel and I was not informed. But thanks to Priya Mam(Owner of this Homestay), she made the arrangements for our stay at short notice. So its better that you directly call her and book the room at a reasonable price instead of booking it online. You can find her number in the Trip Advisor details.||||This place is away from the chaos of the city and well within its luxuries. The rooms were clean and sheets were fresh for a peaceful sleep at night. The home cooked food was simply delicious. All this along with Priya Mam's hospitality will make you feel right at home. She helped us book cab to Jaigaon for our Bhutan trip. And also suggested local places to visit for sightseeing (Bengal Tiger Safari is a must visit).||||I highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Siliguri.||||Cheers! :)

The room was a good size & clean, except for a few large cockroaches. The host gave us a can of pesticide to spray them. ||The location was in the middle of nowhere so at least there was no traffic noise! We saw other properties much nearer the airport after booking here.||The bed was extremely hard & uncomfortable, the pillows & towels were old & stained. ||Water pressure was insufficient for a shower but hot bucket bath was adequate. ||The food was tasty.

The best part about this homestay is that it's a woman owned small business. It's licensed by the Tourism Dept. of India, has regular maintenance inspections and is very safe. If you're: looking for a quiet weekend away from the city with your loved one/ are on your way deeper into the hills and need a place to rest near the airport before continuing on your journey/ need a family friendly place within your budget- this homestay is great. The owner cooks each and every guest's meal herself which is why the food needs to be pre-booked. It tastes no less than restaurant food but is as healthy as homemade food. Himalayan Foothills Homestay truly lives up to their tagline of "your home away from home."

I visited this place in December 2019.||If you want to stay in a home like place than this place is ideal for it. The rooms are well maintained and clean. The washrooms are hygienic. Priya di(the owner) takes very good care of guests.||||Add to that you will get home cooked food. Plus she also advices about all the necessary things related to the place. ||||The price is quite adequate as per the place. ||||FYI: It's better to contact Priya Di directly rather than booking through any website. ||||Conclusion: If you are looking for a economical and home like comfortable stay then this is the best place without an iota of doubt.

Staying at Himalayan foothills was a right decision taken . i spent 2 nights here with Priya ji and it was a really good stay.Very homely atmosphere and food and also hats off to Priya ji for her efforts to take care of the guests like their own family members. The location is a bit away from the main city(easily accessible via toto and sharing autos) which makes it a very peaceful place for a good sleep. The rooms were very well maintained and also very clean which is an important factor one would look for after a tiring day. Guys do visit this place and also make a call/message before doing an online booking to confirm the availability and tariff .

I stayed for a night (had a morning flight and this was relatively close to the airport). The rooms were clean. There were mosquitoes but mosquito repellent and sprays were available. The host fed me with homemade dinner, and also helped arrange transport to the airport in the morning. Overall, a great experience and would recommend to other travellers

Without doubt one of the favourite Homestays i stayed during my time in Siliguri.Upon arrival,i was warmly welcomed by the host.She was extremely friendly and humble.Priyadarshini di,who is the owner of this Homestay,is an amazing lady and very down to earth person and will take care of your each and every need.The service,ambience, food,cleanness and hospitality can't be found in a 4/5 star hotel. Note,this is not a 4/5 star hotel or so,but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for Priyadarshini Di,who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent hospitality! Thank you.

Read the reviews and went to stay here for a night for a breakjourney. And the night was a nightmare. At first, had to find it after the driver of the rented car asked for it for tens of times. Then had to take off shoes before going upstairs to our room where there was almost no place to move. No place to sleep at all. Less said about the food is better. Almost no water coming out of the taps in the toilet. And the breakfast was wonderful with boiled rice and egg costing a lot. Well, obviously there is no money-receipt or anything, everything is forgery and fraud here....
