Pros - Excellent arrangements during holi. The property is spacious. Good for families. Has a homely ambience. Recommended to the guests searching for a good stay at Bolpur. Staffs are also well behaved. Cons - The only issue is with their food service which needs to be improved, they are bit slow to prepare & serve food. So one needs to order much before they plan to eat. Also breakfast time should be from 8:30 AM onwards instead of 9:45 AM.

Kolam, a Tamil word, meaning Alpona in Bengali, has done full justice to it. The hotel as a whole is beautifully decorated with Alponas, right from the entrance gate, the floors, walls of the building, even the room interiors. Loved it thoroughly. Located at a distance of 500m from Biswabharati Campus. We had booked an executive double bed room from Goibibo, the room had ample space with a private balcony, along with all necessary amenities, including an electric kettle, which most of the hotels in bolpur do not provide. The staff was minimum in numbers, but they provided every bit of service with full dedication, especially Satyajit. The hotel guys had arranged for a Baul Sangeet for 2 days in the premises itself, which again compliments to its goodwill. Coming to the food, I strongly feel that the hotel should take this seriously. Food quality is not even okay, we ordered a veg thali, costs 170/- , It had rice, potato chips, dal (which had almost no grains and only yellowish water), 2 types of vegetables, chutney (which was kept in fridge for don't know how long), papad. For dinner we ordered rotis (which were too hard) and egg tadka (this sole thing being properly cooked and tasted good). Breakfast has only 2 options available, puri sabji and butter toast, both costs 80/- for 4 pcs. Toast were all burnt and very hard to chew, puris were still better off. My request to the hotel, food is really a constraint when looking forward for a stay. Lastly, we had the opportunity to meet this amazing person, Ms. Mandira, the owner of the hotel, who had coincidentally come for some business during our stay. Such a down-to-earth person, even after holding this enormous empire. She was all eager to click some photos with us, on our request. Hope to meet her soon.
Location ambiance and natural feeling is quiet awesome . Got great deal through your website. The quality and taste of the food should be better. Not that much satisfactory.
Excellent atmosphere, full of enjoyment. Very friendly behaviour of all the staffs. Everything is very nicely organised starting from the foods provided to the dancing and singing. Surely visit the hotel Kolam during any occasion or just to have fun.
We have booked one four bed and one triple bed room.the triple bed room is so tidy and clean. An electric kettle and a hot water supply was also available in the bathroom. However the four bedroom has no hot water connection as well as no kettle. A separate mirror and tv present in a triple bedroom but not a similar facility found in a four bedroom. The wardrobe is also broken. We approached for a clean blanket and they quickly provided it. We have ordered tea for 20/- per cup but it was also disappointing. However, we ordered chilli chicken for dinner and it was too delicious The bathrooms were so spacious and clean. The room provided a peaceful aesthetic vibe.
Very friendly, courteous and efficient saff. Rooms were good and clean. Hot water takes a long time. Bathroom soap quality is not good. Bathroom floods when someone takes a shower. Food quality is good but can be improved. Overall ambience is very nice.
The staff was exceptionally friendly, courteous, and efficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable. However, the hot water took a long time to arrive, and the quality of the bathroom soap was subpar. The bathroom also tended to flood after a shower. While the food was good, there was room for improvement. Overall, the ambience was pleasant and inviting.
I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The rooms were below average, and the food prices were exorbitant. The bathrooms were unclean, and one of them had a cistern that was precariously balanced, making it unusable. Given the hotel's policy of charging guests for any damage, we avoided using it altogether. Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident. I had a similar experience at another hotel in Shantiniketan, where guests were forced to pay. I wouldn't recommend this hotel or visiting Shantiniketan to anyone. It seems that the locals in Birbhum have a tendency to take advantage of tourists, which is quite disheartening.
