A trip to Sunderbans does require a tour operator to plan and schedule the Boat transfer, resort accommodation, meals, some local artists entertainment, the planned visit to TIger Park / reserve and overall safety. Consequently with a little help of Google we tyoed "Banani Resort, Jatirampur, Rangabelia, Gosaba 743370, India" and viola we were flooded with requisite information. We were amazed at this location was far away from hustle bustle of resorts cluster like "Pakhialaya" etc. It was a serene comfortable and "cute" resort. Later a colleague knew the Resort owner and everything was tied up. A bus ride from PAS Road, Kolkata then a boat ride from Gosaba to the Jatirampur boat landing we had arrived. Meanwhile the staff on boat had prepared our lunch which we partook happily. Upon landing a five minute walk to the resort entrance and a similar amount of time to our cottages on stilts. 5 senior citizen families and a senior bachelor pair had comfortably settled into the cottages. That night we were entertained to local "santhal group dance" and the following night we had a four hour session with Baul Singers and they were very entertaining. Our nights had decent dinner fare in addition and the day in between was spent of crusing through the estuaries and parks hoping to sight the Royal Bengal T but it was not our day and we returned saddened. It is understood that in Jan 2020 there were sightings. The cottages were comfortable and we did not require ACs. The nights were pleasant and comfortable. Ofcourse the comfort of minifridge or wall safe or tea/coffee/sugar satchets intercoms were all absent however tea coffee were available on call... A very memorable stay....

I stayed at Banani Resorts from 24th-26th of December, 2016 with my family. The location is really beautiful and is in the midst of agricultural lands. There are currently only 7-8 operational rooms in the resort all equipped with hot water facility. There is no TV in any of the rooms and that helps keep peace. It is advised one carries Cards, UNO or Ludo to keep oneself occupied during the night time. The area is huge and has a separate dining area, a half built conference hall, two ponds and many trees. Jiten Da , the manager ensured that we were well fed during the 3 days trip and the food was really well cooked - breakfast, lunch evening snacks and dinner. ||||We had booked our travel directly through Mr. Partha Sarathi Dey of Banani Resorts and were along 2 other families during the tour. The major chunk of the tour is the 2nd day when one visits Sajnekhali, Sudhyanakhali and Dobanke. The boat ride to the latter is the most interesting, with lovely views of creeks and mangroves. A cultural program was also organized on the 2nd night. The 3rd day is just a one hour visit to the nearby village. Though it is suggested that the resort organizes short trips for the guests in the local vans and also stop at some shops which sell Batik cloth and Sunderbans honey.
Before traveling to Sunderban, I was not sure about the success of this trip. But two things changed my impression viz. 1) awareness of local people to maintain the ecology & keep Sunderban plastic free and 2) obviously the Banani Resorts. It is located at a strategic place, Pakhirala, which is pretty close to Gosaba, one of the major business points in Sunderbans and popular watch towers are at very close distance.||||We took package (Kolkata to Kolkata) from them. Once you get into their vehicle, they will take care of all your needs till you return to Kolkata. The food quality is extremely good with reasonable frequency and variety of options. Service is excellent. Boat ride is attractive with experienced guides provided by them. Their launch is very well maintained - seems one of the best in Sunderban.||||Service is extremely well. I must mention the hospitality of the owner, Mr. Sidhartha Sen and all other staffs. He asked about our comfort at regular intervals and personally took care of all our needs. Moreover, upon returning back to Kolkata, he called me up to enquire about our safe arrival. This personal touch really makes a difference.||||The only point, I didn't like about the resort is, the (AC) rooms are extremely small. That is the only reason I am not giving overall rating as "Excellent". Also, little more cleanliness of the rooms can be maintained. I think the non AC rooms (in the new building) are bigger.||||Thanks to Banani Resorts for making our Sunderban trip memorable.
This was my week end trip to Sunderban with my family. Excellent arrangement at Banani resort. Room was big. Resort staff were very helpful. Boat rides were well arranged. Though we unable to see much of animals at jangle but boat ride through jangle was memorable one. Tour guides were knowledgeable and explaining regarding flora and fauna of sunderban very nicely. Evening cultural night (Jatra and Folk song) we will remember for long time. Thanks to Banani Resort for making our week end a memorable one.
I visited this resort on Apr 3, 2015 and spent the most amazing weekend of my life with my family. The resort is just a couple of months old and the rooms are superbly clean... The taps still have the tags!! :) If you are planning a trip to the Sunderbans, make sure that you stay here... We are already planning another trip just to stay at this resort.
We, a group of 8, stayed for a night in Feb 2019 in this nicely maintained resort during our Sunderban trip. Comfortable and clean rooms and toilet. Only 6 twin cottages (12 rooms) are now functional and hence the place looks a bit desolate. We had our food cooked in the boat which we was arranged by the tour operator ( Denzong Leisure)
Best resort in Sunderban. Its very neat and clean and well maintained. There are many wooden cottages with double and triple sharing big rooms. It has an auditorium and garden where tribal dance performance and bonfire are organised respectively. The staffs are very polite, honest and helpful. They treat their guest with proper care. Would love to visit here again.
The place is nice. Not upscale. Expect to live alongside stray dogs, birds, rats and other critters. People are good. My family hired a boat through Denzong travels and have had the same people provide us service on the boat and in the resort. Despite their obvious lack of professional hospitality training, they do a good job in finding solutions and making you feel welcome. Amazing what you can accomplish being friendly and respectful. A big warning here is the village next door and a small group of what seems to be the local goon squad that I was warned against interacting with. The 2 nights we were here they have had concert level speakers play music that I don't really care for until 1 am on full volume. They started again at 6 in the morning. I'm not sure if this is a regular thing and I don't blame the resort for it but it ruined my opportunity to experience that renowned silence of the Sunderbans.
