Matla Tourism Property ( A Govt. of W.B undertaking))

We stayed for three nights here. We got the complimentary boat from Gadkhali ferry jetty at 10:30 - this is a highlight of the stay and is the only way to and from the resort (takes about 1.5-2hrs at a relaxing gentle pace). We had the suite room which was spacious with a separate living room and bedroom plus a small sitting room at the rear overlooking the pond and the monitor lizards. The buildings are old but seem well maintained for a government property. Very small windows make for a dark room. Food was OK - simple but tasty enough (not always hot when served though). We arrived on a Friday which meant no access to the watchtower and interpretation centre (the centre actually remained closed for our whole stay - a shame). There is another watch tower at the accommodation too - but this was being repaired and so out of action during our stay. We did the 8hr boat trip, sharing the cost with another couple) which was very relaxing but maybe a bit too long - would probably do the 4hr next time. It was a nice peaceful stay in a unique location, but bear in mind there is nowhere to explore once you're there and the facilities are basic (but clean - the most important thing!).

Very bad management and very bad service. We booked for 1 night 2 day trip with this agency. They gave us time 9 am so were be at the location at exact time. They confused us by telling different stories but the actual reason is they were taken booking for another group who reached the ghat at 12.30 pm. We were in boat for 3 hours just to wait for other group. Management did not received call. It was very frustrating. After that they serve us lunch on 4 pm even the other group do not have breakfast also. Management was very very bad. Our first day was just go waste. We got free at 5 am when sun gets set. Next day they try to cover all sight scenes but that got us late and we somehow got our last train from canning. Very bad experience. Not recommended to anyone with this agency. Even hotel staff was very rude. Very very bad. Minus review

Only lodging accommodation in the jungle. Others are in the non jungle areas. Hospitality services are very much appreciatable.Tour services in the boat are magnificent. It is a lifetime experience though the place is mostly underrated.

Great experience, visited in April, the property was very less crowded. The hospitality was awesome. Really happy with the overall experience.

Earlier name of the lodge was Sajnekhali Tourist Lodge which was suddenly changed to Matla Tourism Property. Moreover the lodge remains closed sometimes as I was told. This place is just awesome, staying in the wooden cottages just within the jungle. Staff is very friendly and helpful, the food provided is just fantastic.

Very much tranquil place. It is around water and amiddst of forest area. Ac rooms are big, all necessary equipments are there. Quality of light feelings are modern and nice. Bathroom is OK. Drinking water not good. Purified water should be Drink. Source of electricity is Generator, so when they keep rest of big generator, A/C. also keep shut. Another, missing thing is Guiser in Bathroom. Quality of food is good but variety is not there. Food is costlier than normal price, as it is remote place. We went there from Sealdah Station to Canning by Canning local train for Rs. 15/- per person. From Canning more (Auto/ Magic Car stand) to Sonakhali by Auto for Rs.30/- per person and from Sonakhali to Godkhali by Auto for Rs.25/- per person. Total time taken by train 1 hr. 15 minutes and Auto took 1 hr. MAGIC CAR takes Rs.50/- per person from Canning more to Godkhali direct but it depart after every 45 minutes to 1 hr. One after another and it is also crowded and not comfortable. From Godkhali to Matla tourism by WBTDC boat free of cost took near about 2 hours. The Matla tourism and sundarban boat rides is amazing and unforgettable experience. Every one should visit here at least once in life to feel the nature and adventure.

I did not stay in the lodges but our sunderban cruise Sarbajaya through WBTDC docked at the banks of the hotel and we could see the property from outside. Though it was little bit run down due to the floods in 2023 monsoon but the location is very good. The property is big and has a very quaint atmosphere suitable for those who want to have quite time from the hustle and bustle of city life. 1-2 Night stsy woul be ideal.

Located at the lap of jungle of the Sundarban. Only location alone is a great thing for this property, contrariwise it's may be a negetive thing for someone who don't like to be alone in nature.There is no connection with mainland untill manager calls a boat to take you somewhere. You will not find even a small tea stall around it.They pickup the guest from Godkhali ferry and the journey is very very gentle and mind-blowing. Rating low for rooms beacuse I have stayed at another two wbtdcl property but this one is not as good as my previous stay. Staffs are good,food is awesome. Always roam here cautiously as there can be wild animal any time (like monkeys,snakes,monitor lizard aka guisap etc)
