Matha Eco Camp

This place is no doubt far more exquisite than how it has been portrayed in various social sites. It's a perfect remote location and a tranquil place to enjoy your winter weekend. You will be staying underneath the Ayodhya mountain range and experiencing the scenic beauty. The staff here are polite, gentle and very helpful. They will arrange everything for you and the camp fire and barbeque in the evening is just awesome. Overall it's a perfect place if you are visiting with your friends but I think they should arrange something else for the couples tent. It should be placed somewhere else for privacy.

Peaceful, Out of the daily city life and mind blowing view when you wake up from sleep. This is not a hotel but a place to camp. All necessary amenities are provided but keep expectations to the ground as this is no 5 star hotel but a place where you feel close to nature. Cleans tents and bathrooms. BBQ can be arranged in the evening for you , just let the staff know. I booked the place for 5 of us after speaking with the owner and his wife. They were honest upfront and told us what was being offered and didn't set any false expectations. They assured us safety and security for women travelling with us. We as a group felt safe and the staff a call away from us while we were there. Once reaching there, the staff greet you and are always ready to help. Special mention for Mr. Sandip Banerjee ( care taker ) ,he truly was a great host and gave us the welcoming feeling the whole while. To conclude, great place , safe and well behaved staff who are always ready to help. Congratulations to the owners and we shall visit again in the future and will recommend it to friends and family.

It was a fantastic trip, enjoyed a lot with my friends. They provide great hospitality and staff were friendly in nature. Camp location is set amid beautiful nature surrounded by mountains. Camping tents bed were clean and we did not had any problem staying in a cold winter night.

This place is about an "experience". We spent a cold December night spending beside a bonfire, with an old friend, sharing stories of old days, sitting under an open, star lit sky. There is a decent sized camping ground at the foot hill of the Matha hill. All around is darkness and forests. The "dome" tent where we stayed was very comfortable too. Did not feel the wind or the cold ground disturb the sleep. We went with some expectations, we were doubly rewarded.||||Some hard facts: this place is very remote; the service is not quick and efficient; quality of food is decent but dont expect excellently cooked food. We were served rice,dal, egg curry, chutney in the afternoon.Roti-chicken-salad at night. Puri-subzi in the evening - which is decent as per my understanding.||||Go! Visit this place is what I can say!

Place is good enough for just one night stay. Not more than that. Bathroom available. I would recommend to go only for the tent package and not the food package as food is not at all good. There is a good restaurant close to this place where you can get decent food in affordable price. Also do make sure to confirm each details with the owner thoroughly as there is huge communication gap between the owner and the caretaker.

Its indeed pleasure to share the experience of my stay at Matha Eco Camp Purulia, WB.||Heavenly place by the foot hills of Matha Buru. Ambiance of dense forest gives a great feel. At the camp staffs and owners are very helpful. Foods like starters, breakfast Lunch & dinner gives a wow feel. All together it was one of my memorable experience through out. I would definitely recommend this place to the viewers to experience the same.

We stayed here for three nights. The camp is located far from the tourist flows for Purulia. So local people are very hospitable on there. Also, the camp is protecting own-self a nature protected areas.This is my second visit to this place and has been my favorite on a trip down to India since my last visit. Where else can you find such a perfect combination of fun, adventure, and relaxation in the middle of nature! We thoroughly enjoyed the comfortable accommodation, the adventure packed obstacle course, the early morning strolls in the forest & waterfalls and the yummy Bengali food served. I would very highly recommend a visit to Matha Eco Camp to anyone. I cannot wait to go back again! Thanks, Mr. Subhrojyoti for this wonderful arrangement.

First of all, it is sheer luck that I chanced upon this gem of a place, which has fulfilled the childhood dream of a very rustic and natural camping experience, and fuelled desires for many such more experiences in the future. Due to severe lack of relevant information on both Purulia as well as places to stay nearby, it was rather difficult to make the choice, I am really glad I chose this place aided by the Tripadvisor reviews and also from the many pictures on their FB page.||We were a Family & Friends group with wives... more used to luxurious stays and yet enjoyed each minute here... I am trying to make the point that this place is for EVERYONE..... friends, family, children, colleagues.... Avoid your biases and try this place, specially if you are new to camping....because this is a perfect balance of necessary comforts (which feel like luxury in the middle of a forest) with the experience of nomadic camping.... You can be rest assured that you will be welcomed by well trained professional quality staff (trained not to say no, leading to a 5 star experience) + dedicated clean toilets - one for each tent + very clean new like bed linen and quilts + good local food + lots of wood at cheap price for those neverending bonfires+ an eye for detail, reflected in the manner they put a plastic wall outside the tent to protect the occupants from wind and give you beds to lounge in outside your tents||That said about the accomodation, the views from the campground are beautiful... hills and cliffs all-around, the mesmerising smell of the forest. The place is accurately located on Google maps and is very easy to find if you have your car (if you dont, they offer pick and drop from the nearest railhead)||Also, the food was excellent, complementary evening snacks in good quantity and quality and the flow of tea never-ending at any time of the day. We however had just dinner once and cooked all our other meals on our own in the bonfire (something which we were glad they allow, and that too without a charge)||The car can be parked right next to your tent....close enough to enjoy music right from your car...isnt that a luxury?||Could go on and on, but i guess this is enough to draw a sensible person to this campground, which i definitely wish to promote with all my heart..... Unfortunately i don't have enough pictures, but if i had, they would all be beautiful and welcoming....
