Sonkupi Forest Resort Purulia

We stayed at Sonkupi Forest Resort - Purulia last weekend with my family, and it was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. The mesmerizing front view of the Matha Forest right from the resort is something we'll never forget -- it felt like waking up in the lap of nature. The accommodation was cozy, clean, and perfect for a family stay. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the peaceful atmosphere. The food was fresh, tasty, and felt just like a home-cooked meal -- which made our experience even more comfortable. The hospitality was top-notch. The resort owners and the staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. Their behavior and care truly added to the warmth of our stay. The surrounding scenic beauty -- from lush greenery to peaceful trails -- added an extra charm to our weekend escape. It's a perfect destination for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. Highly recommended for families and nature lovers alike.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sonkupi Forest Resort, Purulia with a group of 13 people, including 5 families and 3 children. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene ambience of the resort. The well-maintained gardens, lush greenery, and breathtaking hill views from our windows added a refreshing touch to our stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. The food was delicious and well-prepared, catering to both adults and children with a variety of flavors. The warmth and hospitality of the staff made us feel truly welcome. One of the highlights of our stay was the excellent selection of songs, which perfectly complemented the tranquil surroundings and enhanced the overall experience. Overall, Sankupi Forest Resort exceeded our expectations in every way. It's a perfect getaway for families and groups looking for peace, nature, and great service. We would love to visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable retreat in Purulia!

We visited this resort on 3rd of March and had a stay of 3 days. The resort is situated amidst the jungle surrounding the ayodhya mountain range with a huge area.The ambience and the location of the resort amazed us.The rooms were so spacious and so clean. All the modern facilities were available. Behaviour of the staffs were too good and they were very co operative. The food of the restaurant was super tasty and hygienic with a very reasonable price. The stay was so good and so comfortable that we have decided that everytime we visit Purulia we will obviously stay at Sonkupi Forest Resort only. Had such a beautiful and amazing experience with the resort.

I'm writing this review to help the owner improve his service. The generator was out, and after the power cut, it became completely dark. They provided us with an emergency light, but they turned off the AC after midnight and didn't turn it on even the next day until we left. I think they might have been trying to save electricity bills. When we arrived at the resort, there was no one at the gate, so we had to open it ourselves. No one helped us take our baggage to our room, especially since it was almost 50 metres away from the parking lot. It's a bit of a trek, especially in the hot summer. The road to the resort is also quite bad. On the positive side, the cook was good, and the food was tasty. However, there were a few things that could have been better. The room didn't have a TV, and the hand wash didn't have any liquid soap. There was also a kettle in the room, but no milk powder or tea and coffee. Overall, it was a bit of a struggle to get around the resort. Unless you asked someone to start the AC in the restaurant, they wouldn't do it.

A very nice resort with clean and space rooms in the laptop of nature. You can just sit in the lawn and get energized. They arrange barbecue at night, also arrange for Chou dance on request. The owner is a very friendly person and takes individual care of every guest. Highly recommend for staying.

Awesome place to spend in the lap of nature. Hospitality of both the hosts(owners) alongwith their staff were splendid. Food was homely and very tasty. Cleanliness of the entire property is eye catching. Overall it's a great place to spend your holidays/ weekends with your family / friends.

It's a very nice property, just feel luxury. Rooms are very spacious, net & clean, well maintained, premium category room with all modern amenities. Large area. All typeas of facilities available in this resort. We visited with our family & and it was a great stay. Resort onwer is very good person well behaved, all staffs are very good. Specially food was very tasty. Also restaurant is very luxury type. If we again visit purulia defiantly we will come next time in this resort.

In the early morning of 9/3/25, I with my wife drove from kolkata to Sonkupi, a place surrounded by jungles and hillocks at the lap of Ajodhya hills, Purulia. The route I selected was via Ghatshila- Banduan- Balarampur to gather the magical experience of viewing palaash flowers in full bloom. The scenic beauty of the road journey was beyond description. And what equally pleased us most was our unforgettable experience of staying for three nights at the ' Sonkupi forest resort' which has been recently opened for nature lovers! It has a very large and beautiful compound area covered by lots of palaash, jujube( kul), palm and other trees also with a huge arena of green vegetables grown there in and a picturesque hill view just in front! Lots of sitting arrangements have been provided at the vast lawns and garden outside with cradles, seesaw etc to entertain children. The cottage room given to us was very spacious with all the basic amenities and of course with a touch of luxury!! Food was tasty and felt like home made which suited us well. There we found Mr Rajsekhar Roychowdhury and Mr Debashis Chakraborty, always present with a pleasant smile to provide all sorts of help. Staffs were very cordial and ready to attend our requests. At night, the resort took a mesmerizing look with it's subtle lightings, palaash flowers drifting from branches and elegant songs and music, softly played by the resort authority. In a nutshell, the beautiful experience we had at Sonkupi forest resort would surely prompt us to revisit Sonkupi and to stay at that particular resort once again in future.
