Broadway Hotel

I had one of the worst experiences last night at Broadway. We initially ordered one bottled beer, one draught beer (1 litre), masala peanuts, and chicken kebab. Later, we ordered one more bottled beer. However, when the bill arrived, it included an extra bottled beer that we never ordered. I raised a concern with the staff, and a new employee--who was extremely rude and unprofessional--insisted that we had consumed three bottled beers and simply didn't remember because we were drunk. When I asked to speak with the manager, he claimed that he was the manager. Shockingly, they had even placed an empty beer bottle under our table to support their false claim. I requested to check the CCTV footage, but they conveniently said it wasn't working. I later spoke to the owner, who apologized for his staff's behavior but still insisted on charging us for the extra beer. It's not about the Rs. 500--I wouldn't mind donating that amount for a good cause--but being wrongly charged and spoken to so rudely was unacceptable. This behavior was not what I expected from Broadway. I won't be recommending this place--not because of the food, but because of the poor attitude and questionable practices of the new staff.

It's got a proper old Calcutta vibe. The ground floor has love music on weekends. The food is nice, especially, the fish fingers. Drinks are decently priced too.

So much to @ Broadway Hotel - an iconic hotel & bar - a must visit if visiting Kolkata. Beer and cocktails with a menu of delicious food. I've also stayed in the hotel - soon to undergo a renovation. This is my happy place in India !

Good place to hangout on Saturday evenings after a tiring day as a corporate slave. It has that old school vibe. Some may like it and other may not but this place has it's own charm.

The ambience is loosing its essence. This is one of best retro bars in the city of joy. But dishes are getting pricey day by day and the place is loosing its essence.

Date of visit - 15/02/2025. Bill amount - 2124/- INR. Name on the waiting list - S. Bose. Waited 65 minutes outside because of the lady at the door, who was writing down the names of people who wanted to seat inside to have a good time with food and drinks. This is not a cheap place. For two person with food and drinks, bill will easily come around 2000/- INR plus. That lady at the door continuesly pushing us to "share table" with strangers which we didn't agree. In the mean time, she got vanished and some security personnel came and asked us if we have registered our name for a table because the lady at the door will take time to come back. When we started asking to see the manager, One 4 seating table magically got free and we were able to seat after 65 minutes. The same 4 seating table was free for quite a long time but we were denied by the "lady at the door" since that table was for 4 people. Food was great but this "1" rating is only for our harassment and miscommunication caused by the Lady staff of your's. It's a Bar. Not a country liquor shop. It needs prompt and smart people to handle customer service.

A old British style hotel operating since 1937..they got rooms at reasonable rates..they also have very nice restaurant and bar..conveniently located at central Kolkata..

Time stands still at the door of the Broadway Hotel in Kolkata. Started in 1937, this is one of those places that is keeping the nostalgia of old Calcutta alive. They are serving drinks at a cheaper rate, and portions are fairly good for the food items. Don't miss the Katla fish fry, it's a signature dish from Broadway.
