Sundarban Sonar Tari

Review of Sundarban Nature Tours and Travels (3rd to 5th January 2025) I recently took a trip with Sundarban Nature Tours and Travels from 3rd to 5th January 2025. The director of the company is Mr. Suraj Das, and the manager for our trip was Mr. Rana. Unfortunately, this experience was highly disappointing, and I strongly recommend avoiding this company for the following reasons: 1. Chaotic Start to the Trip The trip was scheduled to begin at 9:30 PM on 3rd January. However, the company packed 65 people onto a small boat with barely any seating space. Our group, consisting of 4 families, protested and demanded a separate boat. After a heated argument, they reluctantly split the group into two boats (45 and 20 passengers). This unnecessary delay caused the trip to start at 12:30 AM, three hours behind schedule. 2. Filthy Boat Conditions The boat was extremely dirty, with appalling hygiene standards. The condition was unacceptable for any traveler. 3. Unhygienic Accommodation We stayed at Hotel Sonar Tari, which was in a deplorable state. The tap water in the bathroom was salty and reddish, and the bathrooms were very dirty. 4. Insufficient Facilities The deck lacked enough stable chairs for passengers, making it uncomfortable to enjoy the journey. 5. Food Issues Quality and Quantity: Although the food tasted decent, the portions, especially for non-vegetarian dishes, were extremely small. They refused to serve additional portions. A special mention for the absurdly tiny cup of tea and a minuscule piece of fish, which seemed as if it was cut with a blade. Unhygienic Preparation: The food was prepared in unsanitary conditions, raising serious health concerns. Limited Options: If someone did not eat seafood (prawns/crabs), there were no alternatives provided. Spoiled Food: On 4th January, they served chili chicken for dinner, which was clearly spoiled and smelled terrible. Final Verdict This trip was a disaster due to the unprofessionalism and lack of basic amenities provided by Sundarban Nature Tours and Travels. I strongly urge anyone planning a trip to the Sundarbans to consider other options.

We have done a 2 night 3 days trip with them. They picked up us near to our home and served a moderately good packed breakfast. The car was also not bad though not very well cleaned. The car dropped us in Godkhali and Mr. Sumit Shaw had picked up us from Godkhali & we travelled to Gosaba by local ferry and then to resort (Sonar Tori) by an auto rickshaw and then Nightmare begins. ||||It was very hot so we wanted to bath. But to our utter surprise we found the water is utmost filthy and bad smell is coming out of it. Upon complaining to Sumit he told us that since it is pond water it is like that and he hardly can do anything. We offer him that we are ready to purchase water and after repeated follow up he gave us and charged Rs 50 / 20 Ltrs. That too we got in evening and we have to skip using toilet in afternoon.||||The food they served through the entire trip was also of very poor quality.||||They were supposed to provide us packaged drinking water but they are providing us normal water in 'Bislery' bottles. Most of the bottles were not sealed.||||The boat rides promised by them was ok but the food served in the boat was terrible.||||Lastly, they charged us extra for AC room. But those ACs in the rooms hardly works & the hotel authority switched that off at their whims. ||||Overall a nightmarish experience.

This hotel is located in Sunderban (Pakhiralaya) , Sundarban is not like other parts of India .it is unique.Pakhiralaya is a village in Sundarban ,just opposite of Sajnekhali Watch Tower... location of the hotel is ok .10 minutes walking distance from main market ..Hotel has good atmosphere ..but no basic room facility is there .. water coming from Pond Water ..I found a frog in the bathroom ..may be it found it eco friendly too.. food/kitchen not available ..u have to go main bazzar.. actually food is supplied by the boat u hire from Kolkata / Gadkhali /Sonakhali / Canning/ .. Dhamakhali..so check their package..Hotel owner is helpful and care taker Jayanta Chakrabarty is nice man too. Best time to visit Dec and Jan.

Very bad option for a family outing. There are 2 plus points.1. They have ac rooms and 2. This place is very near to jetty. Otherwise they have nothing even if you want a glass they have to borrow from nearest hotel.|

We were not happy about the resort and food at all. We feel like we were cheated by the Tour Organizer.

Sonar tari hotel is very good hotel .You can come and stay we like it very much.

Sundarban is beautiful place.............
