Location is great, food was good. The only problem was the stray dogs which were roaming around the property freely. My daughter was being followed by them and she was unable to play there freely. It was a big disappointment considering the amount of money you paid. Staffs need to do a better job to keep this place safe for children. Hope the owner takes note of this and take care of this beautiful property

Excellent place at Dulki island in Sundarban. The suite rooms are spacious equipped with bathtub and jacuzzi . The swimming pool is crescent shaped and large enough. There is a badminton court and spa. Cycles are available for the guests for ride. They also have a small cruise for transportation of the guests. The breakfast spread is good. The staffs are courteous and service is prompt. The foods are lip smacking.
Beautiful resort in a rural area and great location while visiting Sundarbans.||Overall resort design, maintenance, greenery, game options, food quality and variety all turned out to be quite good. Staff were very polite in general.||||Multi cuisine restaurant offered good choices and the preparation was fine in general. Good vegetarian options. Included breakfast had decent spread. Though serving staff could do with better training to manage guests and peak time demand.||||Booked directly with the hotel and it was a mixed experience. Initial response was prompt but while confirming other package details closer to the date, it got very frustrating as the reservation office just handed over the request to be handled by some unnamed person over a mobile phone. No email for guest relations or escalation despite multiple follow ups over email or WhatsApp. Thankfully the experience at the resort location was not that bad.||||Boat safari situation and booking was further disappointing. No exclusive boats for any closer to date confirmation. Shared boat no clear indication of group size and it turned out to be 37 people. Good thing was that all were guests of the hotel and thus the group was largely well behaved.||||Few observations for booking:||- advance booking could be limited to just the rooms. Other bookings like for food, activities etc could be decided later at the resort itself.||- safari is a hit or miss, nothing to do with the hotel. Rather difficult to spot any tiger or other bigger animals.||- good number of sport options at the resort including TT, pool, badminton, carrom, swimming.||- transportation guidance could be bit more adequate else it becomes confusing. Else, road trip to Gadkhali and then ferry to Gosaba and then E- rickshaw to hotel are easily arranged by the hotel. Just that the communication around it was not well handled.
Loved the resort, a very beautiful, comfortable place the staff is great, it's a very good weekend gateway for people in Kolkata. There are soo many activities for people to indulge in all age groups, great for family time. The food served here is also great- we had only vegetarian food. The food is also not pricey. Even the drinks are priced quite reasonably. The place is well maintained, neat and tidy. Just location wise it's a bit tough, park your car, take a boat, then a toto and then you reach the Hotel- that's a task. Otherwise it's all very good! Swimming pool, basketball court, cycling, pool table, carrom board, fussball, table tennis, fee gym equipment. Also forgot to mention, nature, the birds chirping, the paw marks of good on pavements, the beautiful ponds and the Lotus blooming. Top Good!
Positives: First and foremost, the food was exceptional. Each meal was a delightful culinary experience, showcasing a variety of flavours that truly satisfied our palate. The chefs take pride in their craft, and the dining options were a highlight of our stay. The accommodation itself was also excellent. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained but missing tissue papers even when asked, providing a relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to unwind after a day of exploring. Negatives: However, my experience was marred by the quality of communication from the hotel staff. Unfortunately, the executives I interacted with seemed poorly trained in customer service. Their demeanour was often rude, and I encountered several instances where they made false promises regarding services and amenities. This lack of professionalism significantly detracted from the overall experience. In conclusion, while Hotel Sonal Bangla excels in food and accommodations, the poor communication and customer service left much to be desired. If you decide to stay here, be prepared for a disconnect between the quality of the facilities and the service provided.
The property is beautiful and the staff is very courteous. But there are a few issues if you think you are heading there for a calm and quiet vacation. Pros 1. Nice rooms, very good service staff. 2. Mangrove forest is beautiful and the forest department has done a good job maintaining the cleanliness of the river. 3. Restaurant food is decent and has good options for vegetarians. 4. Spa is great. Cons 1. There is music blasting in the area day and night and the hotel is unable to do anything about it so you will just have to deal with it. As a result it is never calm. 2. The boat to cross the river from gadkhali to gosaba is in terrible shape if you book a private one. Be prepared to inhale the fumes from the motor all the way through. 3. The chances for a tiger sighting is very low and can be a disappointment at the end of the trip if you didn't see any.
We stayed in Sonar Bangla for a couple of nights. The rooms are very clean and the staff is excellent except for the travel desk. They are unaccommodative as they expect guests to pay for the entire boat for a half day safari which is close to 8-10K INR and don't encourage sharing boats. The travel desk could be more proactive and warm. Ideally they should try to make the safari more affordable. Rest of the things are pretty well managed. Food is tasty and the quantity is more than sufficient for 2 people. I would recommend this property to all but be cognizant about the ferry ride and safari charges as they are exorbitant.
Extremely poor service at sky high prices. The only positives are the landscaping and the room decor. But it stops there. The wifi doesn't work. Neither does the in-room refrigerator. The open air cafeteria doesn't have fan and has the confidence to charge as much as a CCD. Restaurant turn around time is 60+ minutes unless you order 2 hours in advance. The food is at best average. Stay away! This property is no way near to the usual Sonar Bangla standard like Taki or Mayapur.
