If you want to see a special kind of hospitality where they will serve you food but not water, They will give you Salad but without lemon, They will serve you egg curry but you can't have it as it is rotten already then please visit Shivakhola Adventure Camp once. If you want to taste the chicken neck in chicken curry and also in chicken pakora then Shivakhola Adventure Camp is the best place. This was my "3rd Visit" to Shivakhola, but not disheartened like this time any more. The service is getting poor in North Bengal region for last few years. It is coming in news in different portal. But this type of drastic fall I never expected. Once It was really an Adventure Camp and there were many activities, but now only activity is to encourage the flying customers in drinking liquor, making chaos and earning money. They know very well that may be those who are going will not come back again. Due to the location and getting chance to spend some free and intimate time with friends will automatically attract people of different age. Recommendation: 1. Do not take your family. 2. Either increase your digestion power or keep strong digestive medicines as the food quality is of below average quality. 3. If you are an alcoholic and a chaos lover, then this can be an ideal place. Room: Good, but no waste paper basket present inside any of the rooms. Staff : In two night, three days span we found only one staff to coordinate the entire campus. Another one was managing the kitchen. Their behavior was not bad, rather Good.

An overhyped weekend destination. If you do not have any concern about the quality of food that is being served, that case you may grant a five star rating about all aspects. From breakfast to dinner, quality of food was below avarage, even they served rotten Egg curry, probably last night's leftover. We were not expecting any exotic typical Bengali cuisine but simple and fresh. The attitude of kitchen staff was not cooperative. Rooms are specious and washroom is also in good condition with geyser. No. of staff are not sufficient for maintenance. One middle age man tried his level best to fulfill our requirement, main problem lies with kitchen staff and management, probably they do not want to invest more as already there is enough hype about this property. Location very good with a stream adjacent to the camp.

Quaint little place with a wonderful family running the place.. The entry road is literally through the river from where the shiv kola parking is... Once you get there forget the world

This is a beautiful place to visit with family and friends, as long as you don't mind staying in a budget hotel for the sake of beauty of the place. Food, rooms are very basic. Staff is very courteous and service is good. Certain basics are ignored by the owners, like no table in the rooms, no glass to drink water, broken window glass. Do not expect AC or Geyser. Huge compound is rustic and natural, no beautification. In summer and winter, water in mahananda river becomes less and vehicles carrying tourists cross the river to reach the property. We visited in mid October 2024, heavy rains washed away the only temporary bamboo bridge and due to high water levels vehicles could not cross the river. We reached the property on foot after crossing quite dense and steep hilly forest. We left the property by crossing the river. This unique experience was made memorable, by the support of their excellent staff.

This is a rustic camp located at a remote spot in the lower reaches of the Shivaliks. On one side there is a dense forest and on the other a swift flowing mountain stream with acrocky bed. This is a proper adventure camp in the true sense of the word. One has to either cross a dense jungle on foot for about 15 mins or cross the rocky river bed on foot at knee-deep water. The jungle path is more scary because there are huge spiders only about a foot from the track in cobwebs and leeches and snakes. The camp itself is very rustic and the rooms are basic. There is no geyser or AC in the rooms. You might even find some large spiders or land crabs in the bathroom. Inside the camp there are no proper walking trails and one has to continuously watch the step in order to not step on snake holes or insects. One can also get to see a lot of birds and insects and especially butterflies in such a remote location. The food is a bit spicy and the staff are very polite and competent. Overall there is a shortage of staff and this place is mainly for low budget hikers and campers or for adventure lovers.

This is an absolute stay option in nature's lap. The location is actually a river valley surrounded by hills n jungles on the other side. The calmness of the place is the main attraction here. At night, only the sound of the flowing river can be heard which gives an amazing feel. Cottages are clean and maintained. Food is also good. Some seating places are there to sit and enjoy the riverside beauty. Another thing to add, Shivakhola is a birder's paradise. Those who love bird watching and bird photography can opt to visit this serene place.

The location is awesome. Just beside the river.. The rooms are not up to the mark. Very basic comparing to the price they charge per person per day. The food is not that great . Less salt in everything. Another thing is there is just a wooden bridge to cross the river,so when there is much tide it gets difficult to cross to the other side , specially if there are old people.
