It's my second visit to this stay. Just can not be better. Too good. Falls a bit in the outskirts but of course you will love it if you really love mountains. It's quiet, clean and nice. The staff is super friendly and helpful. You will eventually build a family here. They have activities everyday, their in house cafe is to talk about any day!. All the food feels like a warm hug and tastes soo good. Their hot chocolate is the best you ever had ,I bet. Just carry your shoes , getting there involves a mini trek. These people are so responsible and care so much about everyone. Feel at ease if you are a solo traveller. The view from the stay is magnificent. You will miss out on a great experience if you don't stay here. Bye .

'Cool-vibes' shall be the perfect way to sum up my experience at Trippers Hostel. The staff members, along with manager & owner, are welcoming and friendly. I was on a solo trip to Darjeeling, and I ended my trip staying here, spending a lovely evening and the subsequent morning. The common room has guitars, Ukele, a TV, lovely sound system, a keyboard too. Food is served well, and pricing is reasonable too. You would need a bike, if you wish to move around, and the place does offer you that.
I stayed here for three nights, and while the location offers breathtaking views, the overall experience left much to be desired. First, accessibility is a major issue. There's no proper road leading to the property, requiring a steep 1.5 km uphill walk while carrying luggage. The narrow and uneven path felt unsafe. Every trip outside means repeating this exhausting route, which quickly becomes tiring. Cleanliness and maintenance also need significant improvement. The male dorm lacks a wardrobe, making storage inconvenient. The geyser was frequently turned off with unconvincing excuses, forcing me to take cold showers. Additionally, the food quality was mediocre, with most dishes being just average. Overall, while the view is spectacular, the stay itself was far from comfortable due to poor accessibility, lack of upkeep, and subpar amenities.
If you're looking for a comfortable, stylish, and budget-friendly stay in the heart of Darjeeling, Trippers Hostel is a fantastic choice that perfectly balances affordability with atmosphere. Ideal for backpackers, solo travelers, and even small groups, this hostel provides a warm and welcoming environment that makes you feel at home while offering some of the best views the Queen of Hills has to offer. Located in a convenient spot not far from the town center, Trippers Hostel boasts easy access to major attractions like the Darjeeling Mall (Chowrasta), the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, and the Darjeeling Toy Train station. Yet, it's tucked just enough away to provide a quiet escape from the usual tourist rush. The rooms and dormitories are clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed with modern decor and cozy bedding. The shared spaces, including the lounge and terrace, are perfect for relaxing with a book, enjoying some light conversation, or soaking in the scenic views of the hills. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of the mighty Kanchenjunga from the rooftop--an incredible bonus! One of the best things about Trippers Hostel is the vibe. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with local recommendations or travel tips. There's also a strong community feel here, with travelers from around the world exchanging stories over coffee or meals in the common area. It's easy to make friends and create memories. The hostel often hosts small events, game nights, or music sessions that add to the charm. Wi-Fi is strong, the kitchen is well-equipped for light cooking, and the on-site cafe offers delicious and reasonably priced meals and beverages. In short, Trippers Hostel is more than just a place to stay--it's an experience. Whether you're on a quick getaway or an extended stay in Darjeeling, this hostel offers the perfect blend of comfort, connection, and convenience. Highly recommended for those who appreciate travel with a personal touch.
I had an extremely disappointing experience staying at this hostel. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the place was not properly maintained. The hygiene was absolutely shocking--dirty sheets, stained bathrooms, and a general smell of neglect in every corner. The common areas were cluttered, and the kitchen was filthy, making it impossible to cook or even feel comfortable. To make matters worse, the hostel was incredibly difficult to find and even harder to reach. It was tucked away in a remote area with no clear directions or proper signage. The walk to the hostel was long and treacherous, and I had to ask locals for help, which added unnecessary stress to my trip. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was a stressful, uncomfortable, and unhygienic experience that completely ruined my stay. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hostel at all costs.
Trippers Hostel in Ghum is a haven for solo female travelers. The exceptional staff, including Javed and Noor, along with the warm and accommodating owner, Lobsang, ensure a welcoming environment. As a newcomer without a fixed itinerary for my three-day stay, their inputs and guidance was very helpful. Renting a bike directly from the hostel allowed me to explore the area with ease. Trust me, staying at Trippers in Ghum offers serene, misty mornings and panoramic views of Darjeeling city--an experience far superior to the crowded and touristy main town or Mall Road. The hostel's customized meals are both delicious and reasonably priced. Their hot chocolate is simply unforgettable--you'll find yourself craving it long after you've left. Don't forget to ask for hot water bags for the night if you anre not used to the cold. And then, there's Lexi, their beautiful and affectionate dog, who truly is the best host; her cuddles are already missed. A big shoutout to her. Every moment of my stay was delightful, with bonfires and live music adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The Trippers team made my trip genuinely memorable - so much so that I think I will be back soon.
Went there for a solo trip and I must say, it is completely safe for solo woman travellers. The staff and host were really amazing and chilled. I felt like I was at home because of how good the food was. The whole property is pretty and clean and it gives a very cozy vibe in the evening. Bon fire nights were the best. a good way to get to know everyone. Will surely visit trippers if I come again.
Had a great experience while staying this hostel. I stayed here for 4 days only for the view and for the food. Although food takes so much time to prepare but it's worth waiting for since it is freshly prepared. The only problem is the location you have to trek for 5-10 mins which you can ignore this if you're a traveller. The owner is genuine and well behaved person and the ill comments made by some of them are collective. We booked bike for 5 days to travel Sikkim from Darjeeling but due to some emergency situation I had to come back and give bike to him on the same day and without any second thought he gave the full refund.
