Retreat Hotel Samden

A very disappointing experience at Hotel Himalay Retreat. The hotel lacked basic cleanliness -- the rooms were dirty and hygiene standards were not maintained at all. The staff was uncooperative and unprofessional. The services shown on their website were completely different from the actual experience. Our guest's entire trip was spoiled because of the poor quality of this hotel. We did not expect such low standards from a property under the Retreat Hotels chain. The hotel management claims they provided a 3-star property, but in reality, this hotel does not even deserve a 1-star rating. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to give 1 star. Their hotel, 'Himalayan Retreat' is not listed anywhere on Google, which is why I am having to post this review under their other property, Retreat Hotel Samden. I strongly urge everyone to avoid making any bookings with Retreat Hotels.

Most third class hotel ever I stayed in my life, almost all the rooms are damp and urinal bad smell into the rooms bathroom drainage system is not working,the hoteliers behaviour is very bad , horrible experience of last dated 04th to 06th may '25 . Price is too high,there are no similarity between display and reality. Request all not think about stay there.

Reasonable. Receptionist doesn't pick up the phone. Rooms and the corridor are shabby. Location is close to Darjeeling toy train. Rooms are spacious with all basic amenities. Bathroom and linen needs to revamped. Overall a budget hotel to stay.

Pathetic room condition. they are making fool to people. please dont book your room here otherwise your whole visit will be ruined. If u r booking through MMT or any other platform they will not refund you too. Pics attached are the condition of Delux big room.

The most worst hotel ever seen, the staff are adament and rooms are unhygienic and. Not suggestible

Horrible experience.. We stayed at this hotel on last night.. Guests from other rooms in the 2nd floor where we stayed created a lot of disturbances the whole night. They looked like young guys just passed out of college, they were drinking, talking loudly, dancing, talking expletives and shouting till 2-3 am. Even after I went and told them to shut up they didn't. We really felt threatened since it was a big group and they just weren't in their senses and we had family and kids with us. In all of this the hotel management was no where to be seen. In the morning there was no water in the morning in any of the rooms and we had to somehow freshen up. The rooms were really dirty with horrible maintenance. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.

Room was ok ok..staff behavior was good..24/7 geyser facility..but the location is a little far from the mall area..it is near from Darjeeling station.overall good

It's a dirtest hotel in that area, the hotel staff and the owner are very rude ... In clean toilets etc
