"Choupahari is an extraordinary retreat, graciously opened by an acclaimed artist who invites guests into his personal artistic sanctuary. The moment you step inside, a serene ambience saturated with art in every form embraces you. Each room is a gallery adorned with the artist's captivating creations, and every piece of furniture echoes the owner's distinct artistic touch.||A leisurely stroll from the room to the dining area unveils a vast circular glass enclosure. Initially intended as the artist's personal workspace, it transformed into a communal creative hub as guests discovered their own artistic passions within its walls.||There is an air of creativity around and if you give a patient ear to the whispering winds of the surrounding forest, they will ask you to break away from your inhibitions, sing a song or sway to a rhythm. The world's a stage and every man must play a part. Well, there is a beautiful wrought iron stage on the property. Go ahead, be creative. Recite the poem that you had learnt in school, or the song that made you fall in love for the first time.||The staff is very polite. Ismile, our head caretaker, stays true to his name. He greeted us with a smile, answered all our queries with a smile and by the time we left, had infected us with his polite grin. The food is fresh, homely, and prepared with a lot of love by the staff. The way my family was fed not only filled our stomachs but also filled our souls with contentment. ||Understanding that Choupahari is a homestay, sharing someone's home inherently entails house rules. However, adhering to these guidelines ensures a delightful stay filled with artistic immersion and genuine hospitality. The experience of residing within an artist's abode, essentially living in a studio, is a rare privilege--one that leaves an indelible mark on the soul.||Thank you, Choupahari, for a truly enriching experience. Until we cross paths again, your haven of creativity will linger in our fondest memories."

We had an excellent stay at Choupahari during our recent visit to Shantiniketan. The ambience of the entire property was beautiful, surrounded in greenery, a glass room and birds chirping away made for the perfect stay. The rooms are large and well furnished, the paintings that adorned the rooms were wonderful. We were welcomed with great warmth and Mr. Ismail and his team took great care of us. Coming to the food, it was just awesome, we had planned to have lunch at Barishal er Rannaghar or Banalakshmi, but after a meal decided to eat at Choupahari only. The baul program organised in the evening, with all the residents agreeing to share the cost was also very nice.||Overall, I would rate Choupahari amongst one of the finest stays in Shantiniketan, keep up the good work.
This place is completely out of a fairy tale. We were a group of 6 adults and 3 kids and stayed in the resort in their queen rooms. I can't describe how refreshing this trip was. Situated amidst the choupahari jungle, this place is extremely neat and clean. One can hear the chirping of the birds in the morning and at night, this place will give you a jungle like experience. The food was amazing. I had the best kachuri and aloor dum in breakfast and the mutton curry for dinner was out of the world. ||The host, Mr. Kushal Ghosh is a true gentleman and our telephonic/mail conversation, booking procedure was v smooth too..
So I have been there and honestly the place is not as what you see in the pictures posted. Though the room is large and the AC cooling is good it is not luxury. The room charge is definitely overpriced. The TV was non functional as the tata sky connection has expired. Washroom was clean. There is no front desk reception and the place is a little under maintained. The food was good, however. Lots of insects so better keep indoors.
Amazing experience! Amazing and homely foods! Manager and the other staffs are very humble. If you wanna spend some good times in the lap of nature and far from the madding crowd, you should go there. Rooms are really aesthetically beautiful and clean, including the restrooms. My favourite place is the glass house. You can chill, read a book, watch a movie there. During my stay it was raining. So sitting inside the glass house and watching the rain was a lifetime experience..
Choupahari is a place that one would fall in love with, at the first sight. |Here are some points that I feel like sharing with my fellow travellers who may want to explore Choupahari - |1. The place is exactly as in the pictures - it is indeed that sparkling clean, well maintained. |2. The rooms are spacious, filled with natural light and airy and so are the bathrooms - big and tidy. |3. Food here is lip-smacking - fresh, home-cooked, delicious Bengali cuisine. |4. The thing that I admired the most here is the way food is served - they will bring in the first serving in small portions for each person. Once finished, they ask you for a second serving and so on. This way, there is zero wastage of food, and one goes back with a content heart and tummy. |5. This is not a Hotel or a typical Resort with trained staff in uniform. This is a unique experience of a place just like an extension of the comfort of your home - the "staff" are people from the nearby village who add to the charm of this rustic place by their kindness and care throughout your stay. One should come to this place with this awareness and not expect a lengthy food menu or a room service a ring away. |7. Ismail da - manager of the resort - does a terrific job of keeping things in order and making sure guests are well taken care of. My stay was made memorable and pleasant by people like Sumitra di, Lokkhi di, and everyone else in the kitchen and around. |I wouldn't want a single thing to be changed...when I visit again
a place of peace and serenity. The stay was exactly near the jungle. It was beautiful, hygienic and clean. the room we stayed was a king size. We were welcomed with a welcome drink. The staffs are very helpful ,specially Ismail, the manager, was very helpful. Food was good but the quantity of the food were shockingly small. We had to interfere and ask for at least good quantity. I have been to many places but never seen such small quantity of food. However, it was fixed after I had a talk. However, it was a nice stay.
We discovered the place "Choupahari Resort" sheer by chance while doing some online research. We are regulars to Shantiniketan in the recent years and wanted to experience a new place. My wife spoke to the owner Mr. Kushal and was very much impressed with his candid approach as well as the details provided online and decided to take a try. From our arrival we were impressed with the serenity of the place and the natural setting around. The room was nicely set up with impressive wooden furnitures and an amazing painting by Mr. Kushal himself we were told. His artistic touch was apparent all around. The way he planned the walkway with trees and the glasshouse which was supposed to be his painting studio, now designed for the relaxation of the guests speaks about his attachment with the place. What impressed us the most was the genuine effort of the staff members led by Mr. Ismail , the ever ready friend to provide us the necessary support. Just to emphasize his approach, he came down from his home at 7 am today morning just to ensure that we get two hot cups of tea and leave the place without any hassle. This resort is run by the people recruited from the local villages and they serve with smile. ||Two things I should mention, one is the proximity to the jungle and the option of a long walk along the pathway inside followed by the visit to the picturesque Santhal village. My wife and me walked through the Sal tree forest with the beautiful music of the birds around and the sound of the falling leaves. Kushal Babu may consider promoting this experience, even provide a companion to help identify the trees and the birds as an available option.||||And as a Bong I must end by mentioning the good food provided in home. Though we didn't experiment much and also had our customary lunch at Barishal Kitchen, the morning Luchi (indian bread) and the dinner with mutton kosha (spicy local dish) will be one of many reasons to take us back to the place again. ||We wish that the place will continue to build upon it's unique existence around the nature and flourish. Expect us back soon.
