Spangle Wings Resort

We just returned from a three day trip to Spangle Wings Resort in Baranti, Purulia from 19th March to 22nd March 2025. The resort, though being small, is designed beautifully and very well maintained. The staff are very well mannered and their services excellent. The food, though being good, but I have my reservations about it. This is because all the other boarders, during our stay, including us, had stomach upsets and vomiting. I can only speculate that the problem may lie with the cooking medium or the water used. The rates charged are very reasonable and the accommodation provided is very comfortable, clean and airy having all reasonable modern amenities. Only they need to be cleaned more frequently so that cobwebs and dirt do not accumulate in the corners. Overall the experience was a very good one and the Resort can very well be recommended to friends and acquaintances.

Rooms are spacious with a wide balcony and cleaned bathrooms. All modern facilities like Air Conditioner, Geyser and toiletries are there. No lift is there and it's a problem to go to the 2nd floor for the aged persons. The food in the restaurant is very good in terms of quality and quantity. Homely bengali menus are served with much care and cordial. The staff are very polite, cooperative and helpful. They always serve with a laughing face and cordially. Although the building is far away from Baranti Lake, the place is still enjoyable and the view of the lake is observed from the roof of the hotel. There are some other hotels also within the close proximal distance of the lake. Tents are also there within this complex with common bathrooms which seems to be not up to the mark to me. Local tribal dance is performed within the hotel complex on alternate days. Considering all points it may be concluded that the rates of the hotel and the package of the hotel is higher than what it ought to be.

Spangle's food is excellent, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. However, the property is in desperate need of proper maintenance. The toilet is in a terrible state, and many of the accessories need immediate replacement. Cleanliness is another major issue. The bed and pillow covers had a foul odor, and the blankets appear not to have been cleaned since they were first put into use. We stayed for two nights in a four-bedded room on the first floor. During winter, this room is ideal as it gets sunlight throughout the day. We kindly request the owner to pay more attention to these details, especially considering the tariff being charged.

Rooms are good but rate is very high in comparison to other similar property. Toiletries and accessories are not available. A four bedded room of 10k per day including food is not worthy. However the service rendered by the staff is really good and so is the location

Spangle Wings Resort Baranti gave us one of the most harrowing experiences of our lives . First of all they charged 20,000 Rs/- for 2 night stay including meals , when the amenities are not even worth 5,000 Rs/-. After eating dinner , we all experienced severe food poisoning , vomiting , loose motion , diarrhoea and the staff were not even willing to help us . We missed our morning train because of this . The hotel does not have a proper reception or restaurant . It is also located very far from the Baranti lakeside and one cannot reach by walking . There were some good experiences like the watchtower and the dance festival . But all in all , i would NEVER recommend anyone to visit this place at all . Try other hotels if you can but NOT this one ....

A nice maintained property near the Baranti Lake, with good food and organic farming Food : 10/10 Amazing Bengali cuisine is served here. A person like me who hates shukto, has cherished it with pleasure. They serves veggies which they grow in-house, so you will experience organic food. Location : 10/10 The lake is visible from the rooms and the balcony. A little away from the view point area but that is a blessing as you can avoid crowd. You can walk down to the view point which is about 850 mtrs through a beautiful tribal village and won't even realise the walk. Btw there is no hotel by the lake. Room : 6/10 The rooms are spacious but not maintained well. Get your own blanket cover for hygiene. Wash room was clean but again not that great against the price they are charging. Service : 10/10 The hospitality was like home. They were happy to help with mostly any thing you need. Pricing : 8/10 I had gone there for 25th & 26th Dec and they had sold me a package of 2 nights and had charged. Rs5000/- per head including all meals. Which I felt is a little steep and also Baranti is not a place for 2 nights.

I went to this resort for viewing Santal dance and having dinner. Dinner was very good. There was no lighting for the santal dance. The program was good but ruined due to no outdoor lighting for this type of programs. Resort management can have proper lighting arrangements for local folk dance and musics. It may help improve their business.

After a lot of searching, we found vacancy in Spangle Wings. I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The road from Kolkata is mostly good. A small resort but well planned. The staffs were very courteous and provide service promptly. We asked for extra pillows, extra bed sheets and they never said no. Rooms are big and Spacey. They also have parking for your car. For the price you are paying, it is a very good deal.
