A very special location! It was such a joy to stay here at Grand Oak Manor - the staff took very good care of us, they were attentive and yet respectful of our space. The property and the gardens are very nicely maintained - especially when you consider the difficulty and challenges that the team face in terms of limited access to resources and park restrictions. They do an excellent job and really pay attention to the details. There are fresh flowers throughout the property, home made cakes and jams, strawberries picked from the garden. We walked the extended Binsar trail (about 13km) and enjoyed it a lot - but a certain level of physical fitness is required! Be prepared! Thank you Grand Oak team, we hope to return!

Great view with great hospitality. The location offers 360deg view of valleys and snowy hills. The service is excellent. The rooms are neat and comfortable even at freezing temperatures while offering amazing views. The food quality is superlative, the only thing that can be improved is the food spread in the buffet, although it's situated in a very remote location and there may be constraints which is understandable.
The staff is cordial, they are atleast warm hearted as well. But the senior staff is rather so rigid, not at all flexible, not hospitable. Dont think of it as an IHCL property, come here thinking of a normal management only then it will come upto your expectations. We relied on IHCL being a good share holder will be involved in the management and hospitality training but it is not so. Super rigid !! Come here only if you want to work according to their hours.
Firstly Kailash ( manager) and team thank you! We were all female group from 6 yr old to 70 yr. From booking till last day we were taken care . We went for another half day trip and hotel staff made sure my mother is taken care of. It's old and beautiful charming hotel and staff makes yr stay memorable. They made sure we are safe and enjoy it. Things to note # Please only come if u r coming for view and peace. # It's not accessible place and some thing like time to enter sanctuary is goverment orders and so is road maintenance. Reach before sun set. # as no power line so everything runs on solar. Don't expect 24/7 hot warm water. There is time on it and frankly it didn't effect us. # food is excellent and they are accomodating # I just hope owner of the place takes more care of it It's very beautiful and hope more money is put to make it more beautiful. # leave yr vehicle below and someone will pick u in their 4x4. Please let them do that. There is no road for 600m. # for people coming with drivers. There is cafe with commodation just below hotel. Hotel staff can help to book that place.
Tree Of Life Grand Oak Manor, located in a unique forest reserve, offers a serene and peaceful escape. The food and hospitality were excellent. However, the owner and manager seemed very money-minded. As bikers with pillion riders, we faced challenging roads and requested a drop-off at the forest reserve entrance. They quickly demanded Rs 2500 plus taxes, knowing we had no other options. This felt exploitative, given the circumstances. The approach road is unsuitable for any vehicle, and the forest reserve road is equally bad. While the location is beautiful, the accessibility issues and the management's attitude were significant drawbacks.
It is like a haunted mansion and my experience was not much different. The hotel is basically a British era property in the middle of a forest with a very poor connectivity. The path leading upto the hotel can hardly be called a path, forget about the road. Rooms are very basic, food is average. On the day of my check in, my repeated calls were disconnected by the hotel, and the did not have the courtesy to call back or apologize for the tremendous difficulty we faced reaching there. When I eventually reached there the front gate was closed (there is no reception desk or even a doorbell). Food is very expensive (since you can't really go anywhere else once you go there). The horrible experience I had is difficult to put into words but what hurts the most is their pathetic attitude. Only go there if you are prepared to pay five star rates for a very average property. It ruined a couple of days in our vacation for sure.
Excellent location and ambience. Staff not too friendly, they refuse food if you want more
The property is nestled in beautiful surroundings however the facilities provided are very limited. Firstly the road to the property is all broken which they should get fixed immediately.Having charged a substantial amount for the stay ,the property has only one vehicle to ferry the guests from the pick up point.we were stuck for an hour as the car was utilised for getting groceries for the guest arriving the next day. The whole set up felt like a guest house rather than a boutique hotel. The rooms definitely need to be upgraded. The furniture and the fixtures are old .The pillows are not all comfortable. The bathroom fittings are outdated and doens't even have a shower. One can have abath at specific timings only and that to one has to drain 5 buckets of cold water to get hot water The advertisement and pricing quoted on the website does not match the facility. It's sad to see how tree of life is doing bare minimum to run the facility. The staff however was amazing and did everything to make our stay comfortable.
