The best place to stay in Uttarkashi. Very professional staff.. extremely comfortable. Approach road is narrow, but then, to get a good mountain view, one has to travel a bit rough.. :)

Location- 100 Mtrs from the banks of Bhagirathi on the outskirts of town. Very quiet and serene. In night, the only sound is of flowing Bhagirathi. Rooms- Very Neat and clean gives you a feel of early 80's. Amazing owner who is passionate about Trekking. Wonderful caretakers. Food cooked by them was very good. Restaurant has a library full of good old books. Would like to come again and again here.

This is a beautiful oasis just on the outskirts of Uttarkashi. The room was very nicely laid out, clean and had tea and coffee making facilities. The mattress was very comfortable. There are some lovely areas to hang out with friends, particularly the front upstairs balcony and the rooftop area that is above the dining area. The staff offer excellent vegetarian cuisine at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Good home like feeling, nice view from the rooms and the restaurant. Restaurant is very comfortable having sofas and library for one to sit there for hours with the Sunshine and views and tea and coffee. Staff are good and cooperative. Rooms are clean and heaters and other facilities are there giving a home like feeling and quite affordable.

Wonderful stay!!!!! The owner is very involved in the running of the property and makes sure that everything is perfect for the guests. Very clean, great location and superb staff! We were part of an expedition group, White Magic Adventures, and were certainly given the VIP treatment!

Terrific holiday of 6 days. Stayed with family. Location is just right...about a km from city shops and vishwanath temple but in a wooded area away from dust and traffic, bhageerathi ghats a couple of 100 mts away. Beautiful birds in morning. Lots of trees. Nice clean roomy rooms. Simple homely food. Depender took us personally on 3 day treks..nachketa tal, shikareshwar and ayana devi. Beautiful scenery and he is a treasure of information, very conversational and well read. Lent us binocs bird book for bird watching. Lots of help on things to do..naga adventure part for example. Binod who manages the kitchen dining etc is a quiet and well mannered person. Other employees are very responsive. Felt at home. My wife had a insect sting, dependers wife was so kind to look after it. Very sweet family. Nice library reading room with terrific views. Good place for morning walks. Things to be careful about: Arrange taxis for travel from and to dehradun, only thru travel agent. Rates by independent taxis, even the same driver, is volatile. Get package and per km charges fixed. Ring up NIM and check if MUSEUM is open before going there. Museum is often closed, though offices are open.

The place is very peaceful and well maintained. The rooms are spacious, clean and affordable. The cafeteria is well built with glass windows for view, sunlight and sunbathing early in the morning. The food is very homely and the staff is well mannered and professional. The owner is very knowledgeable and knows the landscape very well. You will enjoy your stay in this lovely homestay.

I have liked Monal for 19 years.. and visit again and again also with groups of people. Great hospitality. Don't miss it when you are in Uttarkashi
