Green Pigeon Cafe and Luxury Homestay

I visited Preeti's Homestay with my wife at not so good time of the year. But we thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and hospitality here. Preeti is the goddess of the place - she manages everything from buying foodstuff, to cooking, helping with sight seeing, farming, accounting, chasing her dogs, business development, etc.||We stayed at the cottage in her farm which is a lovely property surrounded by apple orchids and variety of other fruits and vegetables. We were allowed to pluck lemons, sweet corns, veggies, etc. and get them prepared as per our directions. It's a special feeling to have food made from the stuff grown right in front of you.||The cottage is basic but Preeti ensured that we had the most comfortable and memorable stay. I would recommend the apple orchid cottage over the Mahadeva Homestay because of two reasons - availability of one-woman-army Preeti next door and the surrounding organic farm.||We had a gala time with her pack of dogs and the baby calf. Manoj is an excellent cook and the other staff is courteous and very helpful. I would highly recommend the fruit salad by Preeti (not on the menu) and the lemonade by Manoj. ||Will come back soon to witness the blooming apple orchid and having a rendezvous with the neighboring leopard...||All the best and take care!!|Best|Siddharth and Anila|||||

After all the hush in Delhi, needed a breather that too a place not much crowded. I was a blessing in disguise that I found Mahadev Home Stay on Airbnb. ||Its a few kilometers ahead Ranikhet, all the more thanks to the owner Preeti who made our stay worth to remember. Very clean and tidy place, with beauty of nature glazing all around you. The best part was home made local cuisine which I still remember the aroma off. ||Since we were just two girls, Preeti made sure we felt at home. She took us out for site seeing and we made many new friends. Staying with adorable dogs, and taking them for evening walks to see the sun go down was much more refreshing than busy Rishikesh streets. ||Beautiful place to trek early morning and evening, and definitely I will go back sooner.||A must visit for solo travelers.

I had the pleasure of spending two nights at Mahadeva at the end of June. |It's a beautiful homestay surrounded by fruit trees which backs on to a ridge perfect for birdwatching and sunset walks. The rooms are cosy, comfortable and peaceful.|Preeti is a super host. I loved spending time with her in the kitchen watching her cook up a gourmet feast. |Mahadeva is perfect for pure relaxation and to immerse yourself in nature. Bliss.

The place is a perfect getaway to escape from the hectic city life. I spent 4 days surrounded by fruit laden trees and sweet music of hundreds of birds. Head to this place if you want to relax. Because once you get there, you won't feel like going anywhere else. Perfect place to indulge in artistic pursuits. Preeti is an excllent hostess, taking good care of her guests. Milo, Zinzin and Helen will give you goid company. Will definitely visit again.

I stayed there for two nights. You are in middle of jungle and away from the chaotic city. Even Ranikhet is 15 kms away. So, you can imagine the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the homestay. If you are nature-lover, i am sure you will fall in love with this place. My host was superb, an retired army person and his daughter. If you don't have your vehicle, you can hire a shared taxi from Ranikhet. I shall come again.

Well if you are looking for a star rated property with all modern gadgetry/services and a lavish menu, this is not the place for you. But if you long for a peaceful getaway amidst nature with awsum himalayan views (Trishul peak right across), treks across villages, quiet moments under the sun/tree amidst apple and lemon orchard with veggies growing around you and homely meals courtsey Preeti and her team, this could the right place for you.||||About 2 hrs and 30 mins drive from Kathgodam railway station will get you here (the last 10-15 mis patch might be like a trailer of "Himalayan car rally" :). The place is about 20 mis short of Ranikhet in a small hamlet.||||If you are a family 2 with 2 kids then go for the Mahadeva cottage and if a couple alone, the Mahakal cottage would suit you.||||Do check out the facebook page and reach out to the owner's (Retd.Lt.Col.Goswami) daughter Preeti, who would be happy to assist and guide you.
