A majestic white bungalow surrounded by a lush carpet of grass, The Royal Retreat in Shivpati Nagar is a haven for those seeking to unwind and rejuvenate. Located in close proximity to prominent Buddhist sites. This heritage hotel is alive with tourists all through the year. The place around it so peaceful. It is located far from city.

I love the Heritage properties of India! Where else in the world do we have an opportunity to stay in palaces, hunting lodges, tea estates, country houses, mountain houses that belong to a maharajahs and other royals. I am in the midst of doing "The Buddhist Circuit" in India and had the pleasure of staying at The Royal Retreat in Shivpatinagar. The home was originally part of an British owned indigo plantation during the Raj Era, then sold to Marharjah Shivpati Singh to use as a hunting lodge, as at that time, the area around was all forest. It has been in the same family for 120 years and, best of all, members of the family still live there. I stayed in Room 303 on the top floor of the main building. There is a newer building on the property too, but this one had more atmosphere. Room 303 is large and comfortable. Because it was late January, they provided a room heater which I kept going all night.||||The public areas of the main building are worth exploring with its paintings and photographs of the Maharajah and the royal family, tiger rugs and heads (though politically incorrect now, this type of hunting was popular 100 years ago). My friend and I were the only people in residence, so dinner and breakfast was a set menu. It was beautifully served by the young boys who work on the estate.||||The property has a pool, a children's play area and lovely gardens. The home is set in the midst of a mango plantation, one of the current businesses of the family.||||It was a pleasure to stay there and I would love to stay there again. It is not far from Lumbini (where Buddha was born) and the future (car-only) Kakrkawa border crossing between India and Nepal.

Royal Retreat is a wonderful resort, where we had gone for a break from hectic daily life. Its a great place to spend your holiday where the staff is always on their toes to take care and owners are perfect hosts. ||||We enjoyed every moment and view of lush green garden (though they can maintain it more), elephant ride, swin @ swimming pool, a festival that was being celebrated by locals in the resort premise itself. ||||The wonderful and large rooms with great arch. and decoration. ||||Though the road is not very good to reach the place but its worth the visit.||||Kapilvastu is the place to visit nearby (approx 8-10 kms iirc) and also Nepal border is near the place.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you can enjoy peace and harmony in this heritage hotel.||The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a big suite, it is beautiful, the other rooms are on standard 3* level. Prepare yourself there are many mosquitos at night! If you are in the region this is the best choice to stay for overnight.

Once a beatifull mansion. Now a poor run hotel. Dirty bathroom, sheets not clean, no wifi wat so ever. It could be a beatifull hotel, everything is there, pool, garden, playground, old grandeur. For now its not working and thats a shame.

We were on our way to Sravasti after visiting Kapilvatsu holy site. Our driver brought us to this excellent place for lunch. With courteous staff, great food and beautiful garden, I would strongly recommend this place for lunch or tea. The price is very reasonable.

The hotel is out dated but hou still see a little from the glory years. The food was oke but we thought a little expensive. You can't pay by creditcard. The pool is not in function any more a pity couse it looked nice.
