The restaurant in Sarovar Portico had become a family favourite when I was posted in Lucknow about twenty years ago. Later, when I was transferred out of Lucknow, we would still drop into Sarovar for dinner whenever we visited the city. ||When my wife and I visited Lucknow recently, we opted to stay in Sarovar, because of its central location as well as our happy memories of the meals we had enjoyed there over the years.||The check-in process was smooth and our bags were promptly delivered. The room was fairly spacious and it had elegant furniture that one associates with the 1950s or 1960s. The lighting was adequate and the switches were well accessible (in some hotels it becomes hard to locate the light switches, but luckily this was not one of those hotels!)||The bathroom was reasonably sized and well lit. Soap and shampoo were offered in large dispensers mounted on the wall in the shower cubicle. This is certainly more eco-friendly than the tiny bottles of toiletries that most other hotels offer. ||The eco-friendly streak continues with drinking water - they provide their own water in glass bottles instead of the branded bottles offered elsewhere. ||An elevator was provided, but we preferred to take the staircase. ||Coming to the food, we found the buffet breakfast was adequate, though not lavish. We also sampled the buffet dinner with our local guests - the food was great, but the spread was not very large. The service was excellent and the food was reasonably priced.||On the whole, we had a very good experience of staying in this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

Great value for money brand, especially for business travelers. They dont pretend to be anything that they aren't and fully meet one's expectations of what they are - excellent mid-range hotel with at par services and amenities. Clean and comfortable rooms, eco-conscious elimination of plastic, courteous and attentive staff, decent food. Would stay again.

Sarovar hotels are everywhere in India. It is a local midscale brand that has started rapidly mushrooming at many corners of the country. As a branded hotel I never found anything special about these franchise-run hotels, and their standards also tend to vary greatly across locations. What attracted me about the Lucknow hotel was its location inside the old city and apparently quite close to a metro stop. I had a short one night stay here between getting off from a flight at night and catching a train the next afternoon. I made the booking via an online travel agent MakeMy Trip, which is how most Sarovar rooms are booked in any case. The booking was for a Superior room, which included breakfast and even a happy hour.||Although seemed close, but in reality it was a fairly long 15 minutes walk through footpath-less streets from the metro station. Once at the hotel there was no one to take the luggage. The "check-in desk" was odd: where two gentlemen were seating rather low in front of the elevator. I eventually got a room key after some waiting and was told that I can't do my happy hours since it was past 8 PM (although the dining venue was the same). Once I got into the room I found the room didn't even have a window!||I immediately called the front desk, who initially claimed there was no other room! So, I mentioned the MakeMy Trip booking page where my room image had a window and suddenly another room appeared at a different floor! This time the guard on duty came to haul my small carry on. This room appeared to be a standard room, although at that point nothing much was visible from the window. Now, the keycard of this second room rarely worked and I had to physically go down multiple times for help in opening the door. It remained like that throughout my stay. The room itself was quite spacious otherwise, had most of the amenities expected in a modern business-class room. Although, everything looked quite dated and the views from the window was of a dusty playground.||The service standards were typical of hotels at this level. Evidently, the staff had only received little training and were perhaps mostly self-taught? I ordered food from IRD, but what got initially placed was an order from some other room! I was stunned and as I complained the guy nonchalantly took it away. Perhaps, it happened way too often for him to be surprised? In any case, it took a while and more phone calls to finally receive my correct placed order. The food was good, however the presentation was lacking. Even next day, the breakfast food was good at this level, although service could have been more polished. I also had lunch later in the day and some options there were quite unique.||When my train departure got delayed I asked for a late check-out but just got a 2 hours extension. So had to spend the remaining time waiting at their small, cramped lobby with my luggage to kill some more time.

The Rescue Channel

I was welcomed by the GM of the Sarovar Portico lucknow, Mr Vishal. He was lovely host, he patiently introduced me to the places to visit in Lucknow and hidden gems of foodie paradise of the city. I'll take his advice and sate my wanderlust with the best of Lucknavi delicacies. And not to say that the food of Sarovar Portico lucknow was bad, infact it was mouth watering. The kebabs simly melted in my mouth. Ate till my stomach was bursting. Located centrally in the best part of the city, do come to enjoy the hospitality of the Prasad Family.

the place was fantastic, the rooms were clean and smelled good. The pillows and blanket were warm and the AC temperature was adjustable. The fooding could have more options, even though the service was fantastic. The staff for example Mr. Subhash was very welcoming and over all a very good experience.

WOW PROP

Had a very underwhelming experience at this hotel. The staff at the reception seemed completely disinterested and dull -- no warmth or professionalism in their attitude. It felt like they were just going through the motions, which is not what you expect when checking into a hospitality brand like Sarovar. The top floor of their restaurant was closed throughout my stay, which was disappointing, especially since it's one of the highlights shown online. The overall vibe of the hotel was very low and off-putting -- it lacked energy and comfort. Honestly, the place gave very bad vibes. Definitely not a place I would recommend or return to.
