Don't come here if you plan to be asleep before midnight, which you may well do as the best time to view the Taj Mahal is in the early morning before the coaches arrive from Delhi. On our first night there was a wedding in the garden around the swimming pool area with amplified music, base drums and loud announcements which filled our bedroom with noise. The noise would have been heard 400 yards away, yet there were only about 40 people at the wedding. 45 bedrooms were disturbed and it finished at 11.10 p.m. We were not warned about this in advance. I had to get dressed and go downstairs to find out when it would end. |We were assured there would not be a wedding on our second night. All was quiet until 10.30 when very loud amplified music filled our room again. This time the hotel staff had no idea what it was or when it would end. I put a dressing gown on and went outside to discover. There was an electric guitar connected to loud speakers entertaining a group of about 20 Indians drinking in the garden. They told me they had no intention of stopping the noise, invited me to join them and then got quite abusive, jeering me as I left. I met the manager who said he would go and stop them. It appeared the manager was unable to do this as half an hour later the music was still continuing and when I asked to see the manager, he said he would move us into a bedroom on the other side of the hotel. We moved into our new bedroom at about 11.30 and I have no idea when the music ended.||The manager was very polite, just appeared to be powerless. The rest of the staff were charming, helpful and outstandingly polite throughout our stay.

A beautiful hotel with excellent staff. The room was furnished to a very high standard with an excellent bathroom and toiletries. Breakfast was excellent and vast choice. Dinner was good and very reasonable for the class of hotel. The swimming pool was being refurbished whilst we were there. Highly recommended.

Booked by my husband as i was nearing my 60th birthday. Walked in to a charming dog friendly hotel, friendly and courteous staff. All good. But when we walked into our room we were horrified to find the shower curtain dirty and no shower gel in the soap dispenser. We politely pointed this out to rather surely housekeeping staff. Hey then changed the curtain but that shouldn't have even happened in a Taj property. Next morning wanted to make coffee, no stirrer or spoon. Very dissappointing. Have pointed this out to the front desk and hopefully it will be corrected. Have to say everything else was okay.

The first thing we did was race up to the roof top, grab a wine and watch the sunset...with the Taj Mahal fading gracefully into the night. A magical experience and one not to be forgotten. The hotel is one you could imagine from the 40's which makes it more enchanting. The bar was fun downstairs too, and all the food in every outlet was impressive. The chef even made us poh ha for breakfast, which entails soaking rice flakes overnight,to make a tasty savoury dish.I don't think the chef ever sleeps.. he was everywhere that we ate at, overseeing it all. I loved the smoothies and iced coffees, trendily served in mason jars! We experienced a few wildly different taste sensations in one of the two great restaurants, and I was given the recipes for them! How exciting! A lovely stay in a beautiful place... overlooking the swimming pool and garden area.
