I spent 3 nights at the Chatsworth Hotel in Worthing. I travel regularly to Worthing and at times I need to stay over a few days. I decided this time to stay at this beautiful period Hotel which I always admired from outside. I have to say that it was the best value for money stay I have ever had in Worthing. The hotel is not modern but is well maintained and there is a charm in its rustic furnishings and style (I much prefer this to the soul less clean lines of most modern or ever modernised hotels) . The room and bathroom were spotless with daily clean and change of linen. The bedlinen is the softest I have ever slept on. I chose a double bedroom overlooking Steyne gardens. The early morning noise of the cars outside (mind you it's not exactly a busy road...) was not an issue as I wake up early anyway. The beautiful windows are big original single glazed Georgian (which explains the bit of early morning noise) bringing the most incredible morning sun light into the room as you wake up. Easy booking, easy check-in-out, easy and fast communication, friendly staff, fabulous location and very competitive price! I haven't booked breakfast so can't comment of this but will try next time as I will definitely be back!

When I got to the hotel, I was told I was being given an upgrade with a view of the sea! I thought, "Wow, this is wonderful," but unfortunately, that was the last positive thought I had during my stay. When I arrived at the room, I noticed the bed was slanted, and the TV was about the size of a kitchen chopping board. The bathroom looked okay--bland and completely tasteless, but functional. Definitely bring your own towels, though, as one of them had a mysterious stain on it. There were bird muck stains all over the window, which made the sea view slightly less impressive. However, the most outrageous aspect of this hotel was the NOISE. If you're not a particularly heavy sleeper or can't block out the sound of blaring traffic at all hours of the day, you're really going to hate staying here. I went back to the front desk and said, "If it's at all possible, could I please be moved to a quieter room? I really don't mind about the view--garden, sea, whatever--just somewhere quiet." She looked at me, clear as day, and said, "We have no quiet rooms." I said, "Pardon?" To which she replied, "All our rooms face the main road, and the only ones that don't are next to the bus depot, where they service buses throughout the night." They moved me to a room on the top floor, which was slightly higher up and a bit further from the main road than the previous one. But the double-decker buses passing by made no difference to the noise. It was like going from the sound of the M1 to the sound of the M25 and being told, "Sleep well." If this was the "upgrade", I'd hate to know what the "downgrade" is. I'm giving this place two stars--one for the unintentional comedy and one for the receptionist's deadpan delivery of "There are no quiet rooms" after taking PS180 out of your bank account for two sleepless nights.
I stayed in a twin bed room on 1st floor facing Steven Gardens with side sea view. Room and bathroom well maintained however the door of the bathroom was tight to open and the shower was hard to turn off. That said, the shower was strong and staff were quick to sort out the above issues. Some suggestions: would be great if bathroom style is matched to the room, and soundproofing can improve. Everything was clean and spotless. I recommend the oldest hotel of the town.
Where to start! Take the certificates down for the award winning breakfast, cold porridge, toast was served as bread, it had none or little interaction with a toaster, nasty smells too in the dining room but I won't get personal, bed squeaky and thin, stairs down from third floor are tricky as they slant downwards so be careful and last but not least the toilet in our room had not been cleaned for a long time as the picture shows didn't matter how many time we flushed it wasn't going anywhere!! Disgusting
This hotel is very tired and needs lots of TLC. Our room smelt, the carpets stained, the walls peeling, the tv was out of the arc and the size of a laptop, the bathroom was old and toilet would only flush once and had to wait 5 minutes to flush again. Our window was sea view facing but windows were so dirty you couldn't see much at all. The bed bowed in the middle and you could feel every spring! The only good thing is the staff were friendly but I would avoid this hotel if you can. I'm sure this was once a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location but has become tired a bit like I felt when I woke up after a terrible nights sleep.
We booked this hotel to watch a gig in Worthing & price wise as it included breakfast it was better value than the Travelodge or Premier Inn which I believed were far too expensive at over >PS100 per night with no breakfast. ||Having said that we still paid PS135 for this, and luckily we were told we got a free room upgrade to face the garden. ||The room was fine but everting is old. The shower head needed a descaling , the showergel is on the wall & it's all just very basic. ||The breakfast was super basic too - you only get one of everything you order on the cooked menu & the cold breakfast was yogurts, grapefruit, prunes cereal. ||It was clean and the staff were nice, the location was also great for us right on the sea front and walkable to the locals gig, there was also tea/coffee in the lounge you could help yourself to. ||Everything overall was just fine and ok but wouldn't rush back to stay again to be honest. ||I don't know if it's a sign of the times with price of everything in England atm but they either need to drop their prices or modernise.
This hotel really only kept his charme on the outside, plus it has a great location. When I first lay on my bed, the bed rolled aways... yes rolled. Beds there have wheels. Also the bed was worn out and you could feel the springs. The windows don't properly close so its feels like they are open at all times which impacts the noise level in the room emensley. A chat on the street at 11pm... no problem your part of it. The bath looks okay on first glance but the show can only be turned of by extreme use of force. I had to call the reception but on other days just gave up and let it run. Also the toilet doesn't pull down anything. Which meant that you have to life with a little swimming pool of excrements. Cleaning ladies were somehow able to clean it. The price was paid by an organisation so I can't say anything about that. I would not stay here again.
Having read some of the previous reviews I was unsure what to expect when arriving at the Chatsworth Hotel. What I did find was an impressive building in a great location with easy parking. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast, included, was good with the locally sourced sausage particularly tasty. Yes the decor is a bit tired but we had a very acceptable clean room with a nice view. Finding somewhere this convenient that accepted well behaved pets was very helpful to our visit. Excellent value.
