We were heading to Brighton to support my step daughter who was running the half marathon. Admittedly, because it was a last minute decision to go I struggled to find two rooms (a single and a double) in a hotel in Brighton. Finally the Queens Lodge Guest had some availability for PS105 ( later we discovered that price did not include breakfast). We checked in at the Kingsway Hotel just across the road from the Queens Lodge. As soon as you entered the building there was a musty smell. We were also greeted by barking from a German Shepard behind another door. The Hotel to say was extremely tatty and shabby. On the landing outside our room was a pile of dirty towels next to a hoover. In the room we had one towel between the two of us. The room itself was large enough but was far to hot. The only way we could cool the room down was to open the windows as the radiator thermostat did not work. We later discovered the single room had no toilet paper. In my opinion the 'Hotel' should be ripped out and totally refurbished. I can't say anything positive at all. When we checked out we commented on the poor quality and the receptionist ignored our comments

I think I know now what it must feel like to be put in a B&B when you are homeless! We had to get the keys from the hotel across the road. On entering the place smelled very strongly of dog. There was a German Shepherd barking at us from behind a door in the hallway. We took two rooms which were very spartan and dated. There was no soap in either but there was some shower gel/shampoo - two pots both contained the same stuff. There was no toilet paper in my son's room and myself and my partner had to share a towel. Seemed clean enough and the room was very hot. The radiator wouldn't turn down although there was a thermostatic valve on it. There was a kettle and some tea bags and the TV worked OK. It was convenient for the sea but at PS105.00 for 3 of us for one night with no breakfast I felt not good value for money!

Heart sank when I pulled up in front of this place. The entrance was dark and dismal. The room was nothing like an hotel room. The shower room (what shower) and toilet were separate from the bedroom and the toilets for the two ground floor rooms looked like a public toilet. The shower assigned to my room was non-existent - there was a shower tray and curtain but no shower. Luckily for me the other room was not occupied so I used their shower. The room itself was very depressing - the television did not work and it was an awful place. My 2 friends were staying on the next floor and their rooms were much better but they had to share a bathroom. I will certainly not stay here again and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

I had booked 2 nights in the Queen's Lodge, when I arrived the room had not been made up from the last occupant and was dirty. I complained and was put in the Town House opposite which is clearly much nicer (and I assume more expensive) but for the second night I had to go back to the Queen's Lodge. It was just plain nasty, very strange smell throughout, not taken care of and very very basic. Although each room had a toilet and shower room of their own these were down the corridor and none of them were locked with one out of order. Satallite TV had very limited channels. Worthing has some lovely friendly B&B's and guesthouses many of which are very reasonable - sadly this isn't one of them. Don't bother.

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. When I arrived the room hadn't even been cleaned. The place stank of old cigarettes and was very musty. When I came back after a night out the room had been made up but I was dismayed to see that the sheets were bloodstained. I had already complained once and it was late so I slept in a sleeping bag. When I complained in writing I was fobbed off with no apology made. ||Do not stay at this hotel - there is a Holiday Inn down the road which surely must be better!

This "Guest House" is certainly NOT recommended by myself or friend. ||||- There was no sign to indicate where the Lodge was, and parking was tight. ||- The "Lodge" can only be described as an old, under-maintained house. ||- Cold and dark on entering, stank of old cigarettes, with yellowing walls possibly also remnants of smokers.||- The room had small double bed, old, faded carpets, broken tv, broken locks on windows, no hot water from sink tap.||- Photos on the website are not accurate. This was definately not somewhere to relax and feel comfortable. ||||Massively overpriced, not worth half the rate. DO NOT STAY HERE.
