The Tollgate Hotel Bramber

General manager of the hotel is an absolute gem. I left something at the hotel (my fault) and the extent she helped me recover this was absolutely class customer service. I have stayed here few times now, as I work near by. The hotel is nice, easy check in, easy check out. I could not fault at all. THE ONLY thing I can think they can improve on is the breakfast, as taste was OK. But waited around 30mins to get mine and there was just two other guests. However, my experience with this hotel and the management has been great and I will be staying here whenever I am working near by.

Stayed at this hotel twice, but our stay over the weekend 2/5 May a very different experience, the hotel seems to be under new management, it no longer has a bar or restaurant to purchase meals or snacks at night. Room service poor, bedside lights did not work, no hot water for shower we did speak to the reception and the hot water issue was fixed but not the lights, refreshing coffee tea etc did not happen, again we asked for this but no action taken, in all it now seems to be like a poor bed and breakfast place to stay, we hope this hotel will go back to the service and standards it used to be other wise we would not stay here again.

I booked this "hotel" as we had stayed here before and enjoyed their restaurant & breakfast.|Prior to arrival I was asked if I would like to upgrade our room, I said yes. |We checked in, asked about booking a table for 4 people that night, then the bombshell...... "We don't serve evening meals anymore" !!!!! |But if you want to walk 5 minutes down the road there is a pub The Castle Inn and they serve food. |I had already arranged to meet our friends at the hotel for a meal, so it was a quick put the bags in the room and walk to the pub. |Thankfully they were able to accommodate us for both nights that we were staying.|After our first nights meal we wandered back to the hotel for a drink, another BIG disappointment, rang the bell twice for service at the bar, when we were served it took 3 attempts at ordering our drinks because they weren't available. |The bar area smelt musty, tables and chairs were dusty and sticky, not welcoming in anyway. |Our room was very spacious and comfortable, one of the windows didn't shut properly so we were woken by the traffic early in the morning. |Breakfast was another shock, where was their buffet breakfast ?? No that had also been culled. |Not a huge selection on the menu but adequate. ||When I originally booked our room, the confirmation emails were received with the title The Tollgate Hotel and Restaurant, there was no mention of evening meals or buffet breakfast being unavailable. ||I appreciate the hospitality industry is on its knees, but not to inform your guests of the changes that have taken place is unbelievable. |I will not stay here again nor would I recommend staying here.

First stay here in a standard room for one night. |We did take a chance because some of the reviews weren't overly positive.|Our room, 108, was spacious and comfortable. It was a little dated but that didn't bother us. The bed was large and we both slept really well. |The bathroom was lovely!! ||The breakfast.|Couple of things weren't great but when it's reflected in the price, can't really complain.|When we arrived, we were told breakfast would be between 07.30 -10.00|Then they wanted to know what time we wanted breakfast?|When we've been away before in other hotels we've got up our leisure and headed down to breakfast, so we felt pressured to be ready at a certain time which was off putting.|The breakfast itself was disappointing. The scrambled eggs were not great, a lot of white in them so hadn't been whisked and weren't soft or creamy. The toast was soggy like it had been buttered and left.|The cooked full English was small and not exactly great. |We waited 20 minutes before they took our order. |But as I said, the price of the room and breakfast was reasonable. |We would stay again.

I've been back to The Tollgate B&B a few times now and they never fail to disappoint. The staff are all so lovely and really go out their way for you. The rooms are always clean, smells great and tidy. The breakfast is awesome, filling and fresh. Today i woke up on Easter morning to a delightful surprise at my door. Thankyou to everyone at the Tollgate B&B. You always make my stay so good. Leon

Very nice rooms, good breakfast. Had a slight issue with the door code system, in that our code did not work. Luckily the receptionist sorted it. Location is perfect for the south coast. Only negative is the restaurant being closed, though there are a few alternatives close by.

Stayed at hotel on 26th April for 1 night the only good thing about it was the very comfy bed . No manned reception just a text with access code to room . We got there at 4pm no bar open no snacks or sandwiches available. So we ended up going to Castle Pub which was ok . The room was big and bed was big and comfy room 219 ,was clean I places but down side of bed someone had spilt coffee and was over wall and as for fridge it had more dust on that you could have wrote a review .In the morning went for breakfast and coffee was Luke warm and the breakfast could have fitted on a side plate but spaced out and although it should have come with hash brown it didn't. BUT the main problem was that 1 of the staff was so rude to a guest and in a way aggressive towards her .And the poor lady ended up having no breakfast just toast ,other guest were very shocked at the way she was spoken to by the member of staff. The staff member has left a bitter taste in my mouth about returning to this so called Hotel it's our second time staying here but it will definitely be our last and many more who were there to witness the rude staff member,I certainly would not have the staff member in question work at my hotel and be so rude and aggressive towards Guest.

Arrived by MTB after a very long day. Knackered and very muddy! Staff was so friendly and kind, didn't mind us being dirty. They stored our bikes securely for the night. Room was fabulous with great size bathroom and lovely waterfall shower. Fab nights sleep . Thank you for a fantastic stay! Highly recommended!
