We were on a school trip from Germany as teachers accomodated here. Lucy, the host, was very kind and helpful. Everything was nice and totally okay for our needs.|Breakfast was okay, we could have boiled eggs and prepare our sandwiches as we liked. Fresh fruit and some packed cakes were available every morning. For being on tour every day we didn't miss any TV or else.

Guest Reviews
We like staying with Dennis because he treats us like guests and provides a relaxed environment close to the croquet club. It's a wonderful old building with character in a lovely location. The rooms are spacious and prices are reasonable. Some rooms have a great view.||||But the informality means that booking takes a personal chat with Dennis; you may need to ask for extra toiletries; other guests might help you with the wifi. Rooms are minimally serviced. All-day tea and coffee is only in the dining room.
My mother, 2 sisters and I stayed here over a weekend so we had a family room. The room was great just very old fashioned but quirky. Services of bath and shower were decent and in full use. Room were clean and comfortable! ||We payed PS200 for two nights which is overall very good however the website included that the price would include a FULL English breakfast but we were told by a gentleman who didn't introduce himself; that he would only cook 2 pieces of bacon and 2 eggs (personally I don't count this as a FULL English!) he was sure that is all he was going to cook. Glad we had the use of the 'breakfast table' this did include cereal, bread for toast, fruit and other bits and bobs but wasn't a great selection. ||When we arrived we waited for a lady, her greeting was very well. She showed us around and made us 'welcome' drinks. (Tea, coffee and juices were more than perfect for our late arrival!) she was very friendly. Saturday morning we met the gentleman, he was welcoming in the sense of willing to make a conversation. However I personally found him quite rude and his mannerism was not customer service worthy (few skills and customer service workshops would be very beneficial to him) ||Overall our stay was perfect to ensure a warm and secure roof was over our head however I would not recommend the 'b&b' if one would like 'hotel' service.
We had a great time staying at Blagdon's Manor. We were there for the brighton marathon weekend. Southwick train station was very close, about 5 minute walk away, with regular trains to Brighton which took about 13mins.||||Blagdon's Manor has so much charm and character. It felt like a treat to stay somewhere with such individuality in this world of seemingly endless standardised interiors.||||The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. There was a bit of noise from the pipes at night but not enough to cause disruption and it didn't last for long. It was nice to look over greenery from our room. ||||The hosts and other guest we met were helpful and Dennis was especially helpful when it came to arranging an early breakfast. I wanted to have breakfast at about 7:15am, which was too early for cooked breakfast but the alternative continental style cold meats and cheese was great. I also had some toast, a banana and there were several jams to choose from. I was offered cereal as well.||||My only thing, as a bit of a coffee addict, would be that I do prefer coffee from a cafetiere or filter coffee rather than instant coffee, but not a big issue. ||||Overall I felt very happy to stay somewhere so charming and conveniently located. It was nice to be at easy access to the city centre but still on a peaceful suburban road. Thank you for such a lovely stay.
Small below average room, in run down hotel charged PS70 without breakfast. No facilities in room. Brought own towells. a rip off. Will not stay again.
My mother and sister and I stayed here at the weekend, and had two rooms. Blagdons Manor is on a nice, quiet street, lined with large houses and a beautiful magnolia tree. At the end of the street is a park, which one of our double aspect rooms looked out onto. Blagdons Manor is a very grand large house, with characterful, authentic decoration. I loved the carpet, bedding, furniture, staircase... This is miles away from your stereotypical Ikea decorated AirBnB, and so much better for it. Overall I loved the look and feel of the house and rooms. ||||It was also lovely to meet Dennis the proprietor. He went out of the way to facilitate my sister having an earlier breakfast than she'd initially asked for, because she had to leave early on the Sunday morning. When my Mum and I came down later for breakfast we had a really nice and interesting chat with him, over our delicious thick bacon from the local butchers. I read some previous reviews which were more negative about Dennis. All I can say, is if you want to be ignored by staff and don't want any character to your hotel go and stay in a Travelodge. I personally really loved hearing more about Southwick and Dennis's family who have been there for generations. He was a wonderful host and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. ||||I would definitely be back if I'm in the area. We booked to stay because everywhere else in Brighton was booked up the weekend of the marathon, but it was very easy for us to get into Brighton: a ten minute train away from the station which was a five minute walk, or a PS12 Uber.
We like the relaxed atmosphere and kind and friendly owner. Very responsive to needs. We were having a nice experience until late night drunken revelers (guests) to the b and b initially woke up guest in room 1 and us in 11 by gathering around the piano singing and playing loudly 1.15 am. they thought it was funny rattling and turning all the door handle to all the other bedrooms leaving us very unsettled. My wife spoke to them personally and calmly as owner or other staff do not live on site, we finally got to sleep at 3am after they went to sleep. This was very unsettling for all guest who were disturbed by their antics . the fact no staff availble, no locked front door, had to fix the TV myself to work, was asked did we really want mushrooms, no sausages available despite Co op literally being around the corner. Other guess asked for sausages but got no response. Wont go back their as is more like faulty TOWERS. on website said 60 and then charged 80 but cash?. Not the cleanest but needs lots of repairs doing.
This place is a 'must' if you are happy with a Quirky, "off beat" place to stay.||It is not a Hotel, "Travelodge" or "Premier Inn" style. It rests in it's own category; shades of Fawltey Towers!||The lack of signs at the front make finding it a bit of a mission. It does have off-street parking but when you look into the drive you might think it is a private house - however it has a large number of rooms.||The building is in a very quiet part of town so I would submit that, despite the sea-gulls, you should have a fairly undisturbed night.||The bed was very comfortable, with clean cotton sheets that had been ironed.||A proper bathroom/toilet en-suite and an old-fashioned mortice-lock with key.||Rooms 9 and 11 on the first floor, corner rooms, have great views out onto the park. Rooms 13 and 14 on the next floor up have sky views over the top of the trees.||Breakfast was superb - Eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, toast and marmalade, cold selection on the sideboard, cereals, fruit-juice, tea and coffee - we were spoilt for choice.||The proprietor and staff are exactly what the house promises - characters in their own right even down to the Land Rover undergoing restoration in the garden!||Out of season we got five rooms for PS75 a night each and had a cracking and humourful stay.||If you're looking for a stereotypical B&B or hotel style room this is not for you.||Stay here for the experience, history, stories and to enjoy it for what it is you'll have an absolute hoot! Be patient with the taxi companies as they aren't sure of where this place is!||I would certainly stay here again if needing accommodation in the area.
