During our pilgrimage to Velankanni, we stayed at Santiago Illam. The stay was overall comfortable, but there are a few things worth noting for future visitors. Location: The property is located in a remote area, tucked away from the main road. Finding the right route took some time, and the narrow approach road made us hesitant to drive in. However, we managed to bring our car in. Parking is limited, so it's advisable to explore the area on foot to avoid the hassle of moving your vehicle. Accommodation: We booked the Family Room, which is on the ground floor. Other rooms are on upper floors with no lift access, which might be inconvenient for elderly guests or those with mobility issues. The room was clean and had all the basic amenities, including an attached bathroom. The property is reasonably close to the church, making it a convenient stay for pilgrims. Areas for Improvement: Linen and Bedding: Linen was provided only upon request and in limited quantity. For a family room, we initially received just one towel and blanket. After requesting more, we were given only two extra blankets. It's advisable to carry your own towels and blankets. Toiletries and Water: No toiletries or drinking water were provided, so be sure to pack these essentials. Hot Water: Hot water is available, but you need to request the caretaker to switch it on. Mosquitoes: There were quite a few mosquitoes, so carrying a mosquito repellent is a must. Parking: The parking space is very limited and tight. It's better to park elsewhere and walk to the property. Overall Experience: Considering it's a budget-friendly stay, Santiago Illam is a decent option for pilgrims visiting Velankanni. With small improvements in hospitality and facilities, it could offer a much better experience. Would I stay here again? Possibly, but I'd definitely come prepared!

I'd like to share my experiences at Santiago Illam Home Stay. First and foremost, I'd want to thank Shama Mam for providing such an excellent homestay in Velankanni. I looked into several hotels, residence and other options but couldn't find anything close to this home stay. I checked for several hotels and residences, and they uploaded photographs that were quite nice to see, but the customer ratings were terrible to read, so after some research, I found this homestay, which had only a few photos and a few great reviews. So I said, "Let us try it," and I am pleased with my decision. The best thing I've encountered here is the calm and pleasant ambiance, which feels safe and is also considerably less expensive than other accommodations. We had a total of 6-7 members and were all assigned to one single room. I'd like to say this stay is only 500 meters away from Velankanni Church, which is a favorable point. The passage is a little narrow, but you can drive your vehicle inside, and there is parking available. We had an Innova, and it parked very safely within the parking lot. Now let me tell you about the person who is taking care of this place. Mr. Vimal and his wife are the both who are taking care of this homestay. I would want to thank Mr. Vimal and his wife. Such a gem and kind hearted persons they are. Actually, we were supposed to arrive at the homestay about 9:30 p.m., but for some reason, we arrived around 10:45 p.m., and Mr. Vimal was there to receive us without sleeping, and he also provided us with all of the facilities that we had requested. Thank you very much. I'd want to thank Mr. Vimal's wife for taking care of our family by serving such delicious meals. It was truly amazing and finger-licking good . We enjoyed a lot here and took some good memories from this place. It's really a amazing experience in Santiago Illam thank you Shama for having such a great homestay. So, anyone visiting Velankanni Church, and finds difficult where to stay I would like to request you that try Santiago Illam without hesitation; I am sure that you will have a good time and they won't disappoint you. Additionally, they are more affordable than other accommodation options.

I had been with my family.. my stay at this property was awesome cool. Very neat room and toilet wr clean.. felt like home stay.. Mr. Vimal who takes care of this property is very good in customer service.. it's little far to church walkable distance of 15Mns. I will definitely recommend This place to my family and friends.. very well maintained property

Villa is neat and clean but the outside road is very narrow. Difficult to take the car.
