Puthuthottam Annexe

It was a good experience to be in the wild. It is safe for families also. Satish , arul, rajan and arun all are wonderful. Jeep Safari can be more engaging and more thought needs to be given to improvise it. Overall it's a birding paradise in a tea estate.

We were lucky to have stayed here for 2 nights during our time in Western Ghat. What a place to be for history, nature and wildlife lovers. The house is very well equipped. Beds are super comfy. Wifi, surprisingly works way better than in any resorts that we have been despite being in the middle of nowhere. The food was fantastic and different every meal. And of course the wonderful service of Kavi and his team is just unmatched! What a pity we could not stay longer as it was fully booked the next day. Thank you Kavi and team for making our stay so so special!

Really old property in the middle of tea estates and forest. The location is amazing if you want to enjoy bird watching and wildlife. I didn't stay here, stayed at a different property owned by the same group - Stanmore. I came here for the nature walk in the morning and safari in the evening. Both were super and can't be missed for sure. Got to see plenty of wildlife - elephants, bisons, lion-tailed macaque from very close. The overall experience was really great and had amazing conversations with the safari driver who was very knowledgeable and shared great insights related to the wildlife.

Have been many times to Pudhuthottam Annexe and will keep coming back. Stayed there from 26-28 Dec 2023. Love the location and tranquility of the place. Saw many wildlife (Lion Tailed Macaque, Bison, Flying Squirrels, Deer, Porcupine) and musical birds during our early morning and evening walks. Special mention for the excellent care taken by the ever smiling Executive Satish & wonderful and experienced cook Raghu & team. The food was mind blowing. Shall definitely keep coming back.

A great place to really get away from the hustle and bustle! Puthuthottam bungalow is a cute little 2 bedroomed erstwhile estate managers bungalow. It is close to Valparai, yet in a very secluded spot. The "wildest" of the Briar hotels in these parts, Puthuthottam is perfect if you want a really private getaway. The area around makes for very good walks to spot many birds, the endemic lion tailed macaques will pay you daily visits, and you can hope to spot elephants and gaur - which we did.

A typical tea bungalow, the property is a bit old and musty. While the service is decent and well meaning, the property itself needs a bit of an upgrade. It sits on the middle of a patch of rainforest within a tea estate, and coffee is grown in the shade of the forest. Wildlife is common, and the Malabar Whistling Thrush is a common visitor. Good place if you're into wildlife watching, not good of you're looking for anything else.

Let me start from the booking part . Rude and poor communication. I think Valpari doesn't have good hotels , so they are being so cured . Room Arrival Good start from the hotel staff , I can say that he is much better than the owner of these property and higher management Room If u need to go alive to u r family , plz don't come here . (My experience )Mid night u r phone will not get signal , power back is there , it's poorly maintained, it won't work at all . Any emergency in the forest u will trapped , plz family guys don't take risk . No hot water for bath . Finally they passed this problem on a wild animal digger the water line . Breakfast food was very poor , just the bread and jam was good , that too burnt bread . No proper water If any one wants a jungle room , better take a kettle , water , food , emergency light , etc etc . Then u will feel happy for u r trip . Finally I spoke to the higher management , funny answer, the amount of 11k which I pay for a night is for the room not for the service . If any thing happens u have to take care . I have never heard a word from any of the worst hotel I have stayed in my life time .

A great place for those who love a weekend break close to nature. Staying is a bit expensive. Great service and surrounding. You can see lion tailed macaque, sambar deers and gaurs for sure. Great place for birding too.
