Mirra Home Stay

Worst experience we faced when stayed here. Booked non AC room, the fan speed was too slow and the washrooms were not celeen and the water was not going properly. Too many mosquitos in the location and the provided mosquito repellent was not adequate or not working properly. We had a sleepless night becouse of fan speed and mosquitoes. Be cautious while booking.

We travelled to Kumbakonam for temple tour around Pongal. We decided to stay at Miraa guest house as we wanted to try a homestay instead of the cluttered town hotels. We were very happy with our decision to go to Miraa. The house is an ancient property of a former Member of Parliament - which was frequented by great leaders. The architecture and ambience are very traditional and have structures of post-colonial period. It was a completely different experience at very affordable rates. The rooms were very spacious and convenient in a peaceful locality. The host's (Mrs.Vijaya) hospitality cannot be matched - she also helped us plan and schedule our itinerary for our 3-day stay to the greatest level of detail. A cab-with-driver was available at our disposal for the temple tour and the driver was very informative and almost acted like our tourist guide. On mattu pongal and kanum pongal (which are holidays), most of the veg restaurants in Kumbakonam were closed and we came back to the guest house hungry. Mrs.Vijaya had arranged for some delicious home made food which really touched our hearts. On a day when the entire town was at rest (for Pongal holiday break), she was more than willing to arrange for some delightful south Indian delicacies. The Kumbakonam filter coffee is still lingering in my mouth!!! It reminded me of my grand-mom's days :-)||Definitely a homely experience that you wouldn't dream of getting nowadays.

We stayed at Mirra Guest House for 2 days during our Kumbakonam visit in January this year. We totally loved the homely feel of the place and the warm, friendly interactions with Mrs.Vijaya. It is a 1950's style house, the best part is their verandah and the terrace. It is very economical too, much better than staying in a typical resort or hotel. The guest house is sure to bring back memories of childhood days in your grandparents' house ! ||||Food is not included but they give you access to the kitchen and a induction stove, you can even cook up your own meal. ||||To get a feel of real, traditional Kumbakonam, stay at Mirra Guest House. We are sure to go back there, next time we travel anywhere close to Kumbakonam.

We had been to Kumbakonam during Feb 2015. After reading many reviews we narrowed down on Miraa Guest House. The place was beyond our expectations, a well maintained house built during 1960's, we felt like our own home. The house is fully furnished with a spacious balacony, living area, 2 bedrooms, kitchen with basic utensils and induction stove and an open terrac. High ceilings, huge windows does the job of keeping the house cool like an AC. Commendable hospitality and service||||They arranged cab (Tavera) for our 2 days stay including pick up & drop to station (2700/day) pretty much consistent with the outside rates.||||Overall it was great experience...||||Places were we dined breakfast @ Ganesh Bhavan in front of Swamimalai (small hotel owesome food), lunch @ Venkatramana's, dinner @ bava (I don't remember the full name)

Place gives us a glimpse of how people stayed few years back. Spacious verandah and a hall to sit and talk. Nice place to stay with family. Bathrooms are good and I wouldn't say great, but manageable. 2 Queen size bed are given and if you have child and share your bed with them, 1 should plan a method to sleep on the floor. Getting cabs here are tough as you stay in a interior place where locals live, so can get a cab through Internet.

We were on a tour of Temples in the South. We stayed at Miraa Guest House for 5 days from 16th.April 2014.The place is very Neat, Clean, comfortable & peaceful. Service & hospitality is good.Homely atmosphere.We came to know from Google Search.||Rooms are spacious, kitchen is also provided for self cooking.Huge open terrace facilitated drying of washed clothes.||Mrs.Vijaya Mami prepared a very nice temple tour itinerary along with taxi facility.We covered many more temples than usually possible.||The Vibrations in the house are Divine.||For us the name Kumbakonam will always be associated with "Mira Guest House" & we will be extremely happy to visit again.

My family and i stayed at Miraa Guest house for 4 days. We completely enjoyed the stay and the guidance of the host; the guest house was very comfortable and was located close to the town. Mrs.Vijaya was very helpful and offered very good suggestions on the places to visit. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we would be very happy to visit again.

We had been to this place Jul 2015, it was a nice place to stay with the family. The place was with our expectations and my family liked it. This place is located in a residential area which has a hall,two bedrooms and a kitchen. Also, it is fully furnished. We have requested them to arrange the cab which was cheaper when compare to other travel agencies.
