The Tendo Inn

I initially tried booking this hotel online as the rate showed 1800 + tax, but due to a network issue, the booking couldn't go through. The hotel's website only supports GPay (UPI); they do not accept credit or debit cards. I then called the hotel and booked directly. I was charged 2000 per night plus 500 for an extra bed -- a total of 2500 per night for three people. However, the room had just a double bed and no space to accommodate an extra bed. Still, they charged 500 extra, which was quite funny. So, it's fair to say the room is only suitable for two people. I'm not sure if the bedsheet and pillow covers were changed before our stay, as there was visible dust on the bedsheet when we entered. Luckily, I had carried my own bedsheet and used that on top. The only backup power available is via UPS. If there's a power cut, there is no generator facility. This is not a typical hotel -- it's more like a service apartment. Upon entering, you'll find a kitchen, followed by two bedrooms with attached bathrooms. The overall cleanliness was decent, except for the issue with the bedsheet and pillow covers. The area is peaceful and easily accessible, located about 4 km from the main city. There's no canteen in the hotel, so you'll need to go out for food. I dined at Madhavin, a very good vegetarian restaurant around 2.5 km from the hotel. The hotel also arranged a taxi for our Valparai trip, which cost 4500 per day for up to 200 km, and 15 per km beyond that. Overall, it's a good budget stay for those who aren't looking for luxury
