We stayed at Rajakkad Estate for two nights only, we would have loved to stay on and would have booked for longer had we known what a paradise we would find. This is an absolutely unique and beautiful place. Robesh was extremely attentive and helpful. The chef makes delicious food which it was a joy to eat out in the garden. A special thank you to Gukan. He took us on a walk through the plantations and to the village, answering our many questions patiently and explaining the different plants and the life on the farm and in the village. Gukan's brother Vicky drove us to Rajakkad from Thanjavur and at the end of our stay on to Munnar. He is an excellent driver and an extremely friendly person. Many thanks to all of them for this very special experience.

This was stop number 5 for me and my wife on our trip from Chennai to Kochi and it was a complete contrast to the heat and bustle of our previous stops in Tamil Nadu. ||It's a small property located in the hills owned by a member of the UK Fry confectionary family. Our stay here was delight with the small number of staff looking after us so well. Robbie the manager is excellent, well organised and very attentive. ||Dinner is taken with other guests which we enjoyed with lunch and breakfast taken in the lovely gardens where you pick your own spot. Breakfast was fruit, toast and egg dishes whereas lunch and dinner was set Indian food. All were delicious possibly some of the best that we have had on our trip. ||Rooms are simple with a main door that opens out onto the lovely gardens. Cooler up here so air con not required. We were fine at this time of year. ||We enjoyed both walks the first local about an hour through the plantation via the local village and the second to the nearby hilltop about 3 hours. The latter walk you couldn't do if you had any mobility issues it's 5 miles about 1300 ft of ascent. ||Plenty of beer available and we had a bottle of Indian red wine. You could bring your own if you wanted more selection . There is patchy wi-fi and 4G which we didn't mind enabled us to disconnect for a bit. ||We found it a lovely quiet place where you could unwind and relax and it contrasted with the hustle and bustle of the towns in Tamil Nadu. It's a very different place to stay and we would definitely recommend for a couple of nights if you are travelling in this part of India

We loved every minute of our three night stay here, from arrival to departure - so much so that, when Robbie (Robesh) the Manager asked me on departure whether there was anything they could improve, I remembered a useful but non-essential light in our room that hadn't worked. Normally, I'd have been agitating about this before I'd even opened my suitcase. Here it just didn't seem to matter much.||The rooms are quite simple but attractively stylish with a wonderful feeling of calm and serenity. Beds and pillows all very comfortable. The bathrooms are quite small but perfectly fine and a wide window/doorway with wafting net curtains opened right onto the garden. There's really no need of AC or even fans here. The wifi was pretty good given the remote location. The common parts are full of beautiful furniture and interesting works of art.||Lunch and breakfast were served at small low tables dotted around the fabulous gardens, some intimate and shady, some more open with spectacular views. Dinner was served at two communal tables inside, with an option to dine separately if one wished, but we were more than happy to dine with other congenial guests (people who make it to places like this tend to be like-minded!) and with the exceptionally genial and interesting UK owner, Francis, who was there for a 6 week stay.||All the food was very good, though lunches had the edge on dinners. They made a very good effort to accommodate my gluten-free diet, though I did envy the delicious-looking homemade (but gluten filled) toast at breakfast. The hotel had plenty of beer available (not allowed for me!) but only one bottle of wine which we quickly bagged. It's very hard for them to get hold of apparently and they were relaxed at the idea of guests bringing their own, which next time we will probably do.||The staff were very much multi-taskers - waiters, bedmakers, trekking guides and were always obliging and responsive - indeed often anticipated our needs in advance. They are all from the humble local village but have been better trained than the staff in many a 5 star hotel. Robbie is also a very remarkable Manager - efficient, thoughtful, full of information and insights. They are incredibly lucky to have him.||We did a short evening walk around the Estate farm, another full morning one to a hilltop viewpoint and a further less special one through a forest area. It would be good if they could work out a few more, as I could happily stay here for as long as there were new routes to explore on foot.||It would also be a perfect place to come and work on a writing project or to paint, as some othe guests were doing. ||Places like this are very rare and well worth the effort of going so far off the beaten track.||A return visit beckons!

A piece of paradise. The remote location is a large part of the attraction and peace, perfect peace except for the birds of course. Nothing is too much effort here for the amazing team, managed by Robesh that look after you. Not, when would you like breakfast but where, and somehow they find you. Communal dinner enables you to get to know your fellow guests and in our case the owner, Francis who has many a story to tell! So yes, the place is amazing, the food is great and the service impeccable but there is so much more to experience here.

Our stay at the Rajakkad was the most special, serene week amongst months of staying in other places across India. Gukad and Robbie made us feel so looked after and as if we were at home. The food was all fresh from the farm and so so delicious. The location was idyllic; hills and jungle engulfing us with its vibrant wildlife. Our room was unbelivably nice!!! All in all was such an amazing week and I'm honestly aching to go back. Thank you for making it so special i love it there xxxx

What a wonderful setting with exceptional food. ||We had a superb time over a couple of days with a number of great walks in the estate. The spice walk was fascinating and the Mountain View's stunning ||The staff were fantastic- what an experience. Probably the highlight of our trip to Southern India

We stayed here in January 2023 for 3 nights. The house is beautiful with wonderful gardens and views. It is a haven of peace. The food was amazing and it was great to have dinner and chat with fellow guests in the evening. I gathered you could eat on your own if preferred. Robbie and his team provided magnificent service - nothing was too much trouble. |We had wonderful walks and only wished we were staying longer.
