J R Mist Valley Inn

Actually we checked in the afternoon there was no power in the room. The receptionist said evening it will be ok but we have not got power and hot water service till next morning. We got power just 2 hours before the check out. We have charged over cell phones in the hall. The location is good. Service will be as you are lucky if you may get good service and worse service as well. But it is not recommended if you are going to enjoy the trip you will not be able to charge your accessories your overall plan will become failed .....

Please Don't Book Rooms The Caretaker is very Bad. He will mis behave. After vacating the room, He demanded 500 Rupees as tip. I didn't give him.Then he began to shouting. Rooftop is aluminium sheets. So very cold and making sound while raining. Price is very high as compared to City nearby hotels. Beware of that caretaker He will call you "poott maayire " infront of your wife and children The Owner never take the phone. So we can't complaint about care taker. It's situated 2 kilometres away from City. So you can't get food at nearby.

This is a place away from the city which makes it better but not preferable as well. Views are good from the place but you get nothing to eat so little difficult to manage if traveling with family. The staff is nice and helpful but that cannot be sufficient in the absence of better amenities. The entrance road to the place is steep and not well constructed, so if you are not a skilled driver, you cannot make it. Parking is available for 10-12 cars. Rooms have both nice and not-so-nice views. Depends on what you select. Rooms have cracks- look at the picture. If you are alone or with a group of friends, you can choose, but with family or couples, is not preferred.

An overall pleasant stay for a family to stay for few days, we had initially thought of staying for 5 days and use the kitchen, hence selected home stay of JR mist. But we ended up only taking the room services. The Inn is situated in a secluded place and entry is not well maintained, you need to have your own car to stay here. Everything here is self checkin, can't depend on the caretaker. Coming to the caretaker he tends to be rude at first as he only prefers people talking in Tamil, but later on he became friendly. The Rooms are very well maintained and the view from the room is awesome, the valley & mountains are clearly visible from the large window. But the basic amenities in the room are missing, like glasses , plates , kettle or instant tea coffee , which anyone expects in a hotel. We need to get our own water bottles. Now coming to the bathroom , needs a lot of upgrade, looks clean but after a single use it starts stinking. And there are a lot of insencts and small flies coming in. Coming to the outside , it feels like home , u have a hall to sit and chat or have food, children can play around. Elders can sit outside and chat seeing the view. So basically I would give 3.5 Stars overall. Few upgrades from the owner and changing the caretaker would make the home stay a 5

The place is nice in terms of its scenic location. The tariff rates are also fairly reasonable. We reached late in the evening and could not get any food even when the prior instructions were given to owner This could be due to remote location of the hotel from the main city. In general the caretaker is very responsive and delux rooms are clean . Overall a good and simple place for family and friends to stay especially those who loves to be surrounded by nature.

All okay except service was not that good. Caretaker was rarely present there. No owner. You can call to owner for some settlement. View was good. Other places are far away from there. You can get auto/taxi from there but the fare is too high.

Jr. Mist Valley in Ooty falls short of expectations, rendering it unworthy of anyone's time, especially in December or January. The absence of basic amenities, from plates to cots, raises concerns about the overall comfort and safety. Ooty's legendary cold is met with insufficient provisions, diminishing the potential enjoyment of the stay. For a more fulfilling experience during these months, it's advisable to explore alternative accommodations that prioritize guest comfort and provide essential amenities, ensuring a more pleasant and memorable stay in the picturesque surroundings of Ooty.

The hotel was beautiful, but the man handling the stuff was unbelievably rude. I don't know if this is because of some communication issue, but his behaviour cannot be justified at all. He wasn't accomodating at all and even asked us to get out of his cottage when we refused to have his overpriced breakfast. My overall experience was below average, and I would recommend everyone to avoid this place.
