The Chettinad Heritage

We were at the Chettinad Heritage as part of my mother's 80th birthday. Having traveled for 5.5 hours and reaching late into the evening, Mr. Solai welcomed us warmly at the gate. It was then we found out that our rooms were on the first floor and we had to take a flight of stairs. My mother who was utterly tired and fatigued from the journey had to be lifted in a wheelchair up the stairs. Solai without a bit of hesitation, called the other two staff members, Mukesh Kannan and Veera Kumar and the four of us did the job. I was so moved by the amazing helpful and attentive nature of the three and I have no words to express my gratitude. This exemplary service is rare to find and I am thankful to all of them. I would also like to note that the food was delicious and the place very clean. We had taken two rooms that had a common beautiful balcony. Overall, our trip was very satisfying and relaxing. We highly recommend the Chettinad Heritage!

We recently went to Chettinad Heritage and loved the place. The hospitality, food, rooms, general cleanliness was all really good. For a three star hotel, these guys are doing an amazing job. We felt very welcome.

We came here without any expectations, but our stay turned out to be incredibly pleasant and peaceful. The authenticity of the Chettinad house is truly remarkable. We had a wonderful time--the staff were warm and welcoming, and the food was excellent, especially the Kavuni Arisi sweet, which was a highlight

A comparatively better value stay and 3-Star comfort at this property. Styled and built like a Chettiyar Home this is more vertical than spread expansive. We reserved a triple occupancy room with a large double bed and a single additional bed. The room was spacious and airy with windows on either side along with air conditioning. The attached bathroom was big with a shower and mixer. Geysers are installed. Rooms and bathrooms can be a lot cleaner as we observed stained room floors, rickety beds and unclean bathroom floors. Food should be informed in advance to the staff for preparation and the right head count. Due to large variations on a daily basis of tourists this is a challenge not just here but at almost all heritage stays in the region. Food overall is home style with limited variations and local options. Food was nice during breakfast and dinners but extremely expensive when compared to similar food prices in the region. Rooms on upper stories can be extremely challenging for people with mobility issues. There are no elevators or ground floor units. Parking is kerbside and mostly safe in this all residential neighborhood. Overall a comfortable stay, if not the best, which it should be for the price they're seeking.

Had a great stay for 2 days and notworthy support from Gokul and team. Food was delicious and prepared fresh every time on demand. The rooms were neat and tody and felt we were literally living a luxurious life style that was prevalent a 100 year ago. The atmosphere ports you to a different time, however with all modern ameneties now part of this beatiful mansion

Rooms and toilets are in excellent condition. Well maintained Chettinad mansion. Going back home with plenty of amazing memories.

Chidambara Vilas is a 125-year-old Chettinad house turned hotel. It's a huge mansion covering one acre, with a fascinating two-hour evening tour.||||The hotel is filled with antiques, from doors to clocks and ceilings. The staff is friendly and helpful.||||It has delicious South Indian food, including dinner buffets and traditional Chettinad lunch on banana leaves.
