Ambalal Resort

Very nice small resort easily accessible with Yelagiri lake in front for the view and being surrounded by serene and calm green surrounding, you truly feel in the lap of nature. Resort is made on the slope of a small hill. They have aesthetically built it in step wise multi level construction retaining some rocky faces within the campus and kept greens and a few big trees. ||Stayed in a cosy medium sized AC room with lake view and verdant greens in front with small but reasonably equipped clean bathroom. Room could easily accommodate my two young kids - laid out two single mattresses with clean linen covers. What is wonderful that most of the rooms had a villa like feeling with a small terrace opening out of the all glass partition. Remove curtains or step out to your private terrace to soak some nature and lake in front. Awesome!||Limited choice in food in restaurant but tasty and satisfying - only vegetarian. ||Small swimming pool with a still smaller splash pool for very young kids. Did not expect very clean open pool during monsoon - so it is.||Naming convention of the room (Rooms named 222, 333, 444... to upto only 999 and each has been typically names "Faith Works", " Keep Smiling", "Time Never Waits" and valuable "life" quotes here and there adds a uniqueness and a bit of mysticism. Mystic coincidence that we stayed in room named "Time Never Waits'.

Probably one of the best resorts in Yelagiri. The first of its kind ; One and only pure vegetarian resort. It's located in the centre of the Yelagiri hills surrounded by greenery & a perfect view of the lake from the hotel.| We stayed there for 3 nights; The staffs where friendly and helpful. The rooms where quite spacious and clean. The bedsheets where changed everyday. Being a vegetarian food was one of the biggest plus point there. What u ask is what you get; Tasty & delicious. They have got a Swimming pool , Children play area , a badminton & a Basketball court and a mediation hall :)| Would come over to this place again & again for their splendid hospitality.||Thank you

We had gone to Yelagiri for a day with family. Went there and booked the hotel. The rooms are decent. Not great, but clean and fine. The AC did leak in our room. The resort is managed by lot of workers and I did not see a manager who can really look at the hospitality. So, although the resort is good, there is no proper upkeep. The rook tariff included some trek and other activities. They did not even talk about it. One Assamese guy called Raju was very amongst them. Breakfast was decent and Dinner was not good too. Overall I would say it is an average experience. Very near to the lake though.

We visited Ambalal in the last week of August for a weekend stay and had booked 9 rooms for 12 adults and 9 kids. We stayed there for a night and i personally felt that the stay was not worth the price we paid. I have briefly documented my experience below by various service categories||||Staff : Courteous and helpful ||||Food: Serves only vegetarian food. The breakfast came with the package and we were served South Indian Breakfast which was just average and not up to the mark. Dinner was a mix of Chinese and North Indian cuisine which a lot of us did not like as the food lacked taste and was very oily. We were charged INR 1000 extra per person for lunch and dinner and we had high expectations. May be food was expensive because, Yelagiri as a place does not have a lot of restaurants and nothing especially where Ambalal is located. So a thumbs down for food.||||Rooms: Neat and well maintained except for the TV and plug outlet which did not work properly. Water supply stopped for half hour in the morning and we had to wait till the overhead tanks were re-filled. ||||Amenities : I would give a zero here as the resort had no proper amenities and club house facilities except an old swing facing the hill. The club house that is available is like a dungeon with no proper ventilation and maintenance. The table tennis net was damaged and rackets had fungus on them. The basket ball court neither had a net nor a basket ball. ||The swimming pool water had turned green due to rains and was emitting a foul odor.The resort had a sit out area facing the lake which had a lot of mosquitoes making it hard to relax in the evening and late night.||||Location: Located near the lake which is a 2 minutes walk from the resort. ||||The occupancy rate in the resort was also very low. Except for our family and an another guest, We could see no one in the resort. ||||One another big drawback was that, the hotel excepts payments only in cash and we had to carry close to 50K from bangalore as we were not sure if the ATMs in yelagiri would have so much cash given the current scenario. ||||On the whole i give a big thumbs down to this resort and would not recommend this place to anyone. ||||Born and raised in Bangalore, I felt Nandi Hills is much better a place than Yelagiri. Except for a beautiful Murugan temple, this place has nothing much to offer.

Excellent resort , very homely , beautiful view of the lake , best part was the swimming pool which was very well maintained and some delicious pure vegetarian food at their restaurant. |Includes outdoor and indoor activities for the family , we were taken good care by the hotel staff and a special arrangement of bon-fire was made after a request which made our stay even better with Ambalal resort. |Definitely recommend others to stay here ! I stayed at this resort with a couple of my friends for a night. It's a nice resort with a lake view and the rooms are clean and perfect. We enjoyed our stay. Since it was off season the restaurant was closed and so can't comment on the food|I Recommend this resort for families!! |

We stayed for 2 days by last week of may 2015.. ||The service is pathetic in those 2 days, We stayed in room having lake view : the AC started leaking water inside the room for the whole day. the wooden flooring had nails protruding, Lake view balcony lights didnt worked for time of stay.. the staff who was there is so careless and not sorted the issue after frequent compliants ||||the second disappointment was the service ; very less options available & over priced, the pathetic part was the buffet dinner served, the dinner was served only at 9.00 Pm even though the staff says the dinner time will be by 8.00 PM sharp..||We went with our 2 kids less than 5 yr old and after repeated request to serve dinner by 8.00 PM nothing was honoured ||||I will never recommend this resort again to anyone especially if you go with the family ||||*** HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE****
