Sri Laxmi Guest House

Had a great and peaceful stay at Sri Laxmi guest house for 3 nights. Property is well maintained and very clean. It's also close to famous temples. Property manager Nagu helped us with flexible checkin and checkout. We're traveling with our parents and our toddler. We all felt right at home.

This is the bottom floor of a large house. The upstairs was unoccupied during my visit, because it's the home of the owners, who live in the U.S. Communication with them is very easy on whatsapp, and there is also a local person who is friendly and completely unobtrusive, though available on short notice when needed. The rented space consists of a very large living room (with work desk as well as couch and chairs) and an anteroom big enough to serve as another living room. It has a TV that I never used, relying instead of fast and reliable wifi. There are two large bedrooms, each with bathroom. Note that they are the only rooms with A/C, though the A/C is very quiet (split units), and I found the living room reasonably comfortable. There is also a dining room with table, chairs, and fridge. It adjoins a full kitchen with utensils, microwave, and one-burner electric hotplate. There's a laundry room with an easy-to-use washing machine (spin dry only, but there's a clothes line). Out back, there's a small garden. One caution: I had my own self-drive rented car, which I think is probably a must for anyone staying here, unless you arrange with the owner for a car with driver. I say this because the house is in a residential area, and groceries (as well as the temples that draw most visitors) are a mile or two away. There are autorickshas on the street, but I'm not sure how hard it would be to flag one down. Walking is only for the hale and hearty.

We had a wonderful time with our family here. Lots of space and well ventilated . Points of improvement. An aquaguard /water filter , a cook on payment basis , better cleanliness routines in the bathrooms ... .some crockery and cutlery for use .Mami at home was very welcoming and homely .. All in all good experience ..

Very nice and homely place to stay with family. All major temples are just 1 km away. Nice caretaker.

Beautiful house and the best one @ Kumbakonam , chamu was an extremely courteous and wonderful host.. will defenitely stay here the next time we are in Kumbakonam...

You can get a homely atmosphere but not maintained properly. All you can do is just stay. No room service too
