VMT Guest House

This is an informal guest house with basic facilities. The unique aspect is its location, being just 1 Km from the sea shore. The manager is a friendly person and is keen to oblige with whatever you need. There are informal restaurants nearby in thatched roof dwellings which serve hot food. We stayed 4 nights and explored the surroundings from here. Wildlife, birds, mangrove forests and the unique geography of this place, make it a memorable experience. The manager/owner has to be contacted beforehand. You will have to pay before reaching. They will also need reminders before you arrive.

A trip to Kodiyakarai is certainly not for the faint-hearted! It is far from the beaten tourist track, and very few visitors. The village has basic necessities. This has a unique geography, which is what we wanted to experience, and spent 4 nights there! Not a moment was wasted. This was a dream trip which fulfilled everything that we wished. VMT Guest House is unique for its location, hardly 1Km from the seashore. Yes, better hygiene is desirable. The staff are friendly and do take care of your needs.

An above average place. As it is one of the two guest houses in Kodiyakarai, the price of rooms is in par with hotels in towns like Nagapattinam. The rooms are okay. It could have been maintained better and kept clean. Min. rate for a non-AC room is INR 750+tax. I didn't see AC rooms, so not sure how they are maintained.

VMT Hotel is a small property located at Kodikkarai (Point Calimere). It is the only lodging property in the vicinity. This is an ideal place for serious birding & wildlife enthusiast. Point Calimere is a great birding location and also has a wildlife sanctuary which is home to the Indian Black Buck. In addition the place has a cultural & religious heritage. From Point Calimere you can see the Sri Lankan coastline at a distance. ||||The Point Calimere Wildlife Sanctuary, with an area of 377 Sq km, was created on June 13, 1967. The sanctuary includes the cape and its three natural habitat types: dry evergreen forests, mangrove forests, and wetlands. Point Calimere is home to the endangered endemic Indian blackbuck and is one of the few known wintering locations of the spoon-billed sandpiper. It also holds large wintering populations of greater flamingos in India. ||Before you plan your visit, it is better to call up the Hotel owner and make your reservation. The staff (manager) is very helpful and quite a simple, down-to-earth person.

One of the few hotels in this region. The owner is really nice, but the place itself is okay. Recommend going to the rooftop at night to see the stars and the Milky Way. Easily one of the best night skies I've seen.

Basic place with bare minimum amenities like AC, Geyser. Nothing more. Don't expect luxury. You can survive though. No dining available though the caretaker Veeramuthu may be able to arrange for some food now and then. Or you can experiment local dea food in small road side eateries. Ample car parking space available.

One and only lodge in kodikkarai village. In ground floor 2 family rooms available. It has a 6 bed with attach bathroom. Car parking facility available.

They don't have AC rooms. It was too hot to stay inside. But the people there was helpful and respectful. So if you have no other choice then finally you can go with this.
