Chidambaram Spiritual Stay

Yesterday I stayed in this property. Everything was smooth from the time I spoke to Ms Deepa to block the room to actually vacating the room. Though my train was late by one hour I was pleased to see Mr Selvakumar to receive me near the gate. It was three bedded room. Room & bath room was clean and worth for the money we paid. It's in a residential calm area and the eateries are around 1.1 km away. Mr Selvakumar arranges for auto whenever we require. Another thing is that check in time is flexible unlike other lodges where they strictly follow 12 noon as check in time. This property is very much suitable for families. My rating is 5/5.

Ever since the first call with the owner ( Deepa) , it has been a greatest and smooth experience. We booked this stay based on the reviews and all the reviewed are just true to their words. Firstly the Owner/co owners - Mrs Deepa and Mr Sarvanan/Mr Bala had been extremely nice and polite and well spoken. They all are very committed to their business and always customer friendly. The prices are absolutely reasonable for their home stay. This was my first home stay experience and it was just so so good. The place is very well maintained, clean,and has a positive vibe . The Staff are very much helpful and dedicated.( Mr Gurumurthy/SelvaKumar). They helped us a lot with arranging autos/cabs for nearby visits and also helped us speaking in Tamil( we being outsiders). Coming to the location- this place is very near to the temple and is situated in a nice residential locality making it safe and secure. The room was clean and just as shown in the pictures. Besides the room they also have a common kitchen with all the basic amenities required. The best part for me was the sitout area where they have a very positive vibe with pictures of all nearby major temples/major Pooja schedules at chidambaram temple/a small library with Bhagadvita/other holy books. While my stay I really spent some time talking to the staff/owners about Chidamabaram temple and it's history. They charged 1500/- which was the best price for the room they alloted I strongly recommend this place not just only for the place but for also the way the owners are and how dedicated they are towards their customers. Room and washroom was very clean and spritual enviornment creats an extraordinary impression. Very positive vibes and you can stay your family and kids. It's very calm and safe place, located on the prime location, everything is in the range of 1 km. Owner and staff are very humble and cooperative. You will not feel like away from home. If you are visiting to chidambaram, i will suggest everyone to stay here. It's value for money experience. If i come to chidambaram, i will visit and stay here again with my family

This review is a bit long because i wanted to give a detailed feedback. I had booked my stay for one night on 23rd December 2024 after going through the google reviews of Chidambaram spiritual stay. The reviews were very good with overall rating of 4.3/5. I was hoping that I too will have a pleasant stay, but it turned to be utterly disappointing. After my experience, I was wondering if most of the google reviews were fake or I ended up getting the worst possible service from these guys. To begin with, I followed the google maps and after reaching the location, called Selvakumar whose number was given by Ms.Deepa. He came out and told me that the room allotted to us is in some other building in the adjacent lane (These are kind of serviced apartments). The room given to us was pathetic. It was very compact and dusty. The washroom was dusty with mud marks on the floor and a dirty wash basin, a faucet that was hardly releasing water. Water from the taps was coming with very low pressure. In essence the washroom was similar to the ones you find in a third class roadside hotel (look at the pictures uploaded by me). There were cockroaches inside the washroom.The AC and ceiling fan were noisy (couldn't sleep properly after the long drive). When I wanted to switch on the AC, the remote did not have batteries inside. When I called Selvakumar about it, he calmly says the previous customer would have taken them! It took some time to get the batteries! The knob of ceiling fan's speed control unit was missing. So it was only working at one speed. Selva again blames the previous customer ! Somehow we managed to spend the night with disturbed sleep. We got up early next morning, to get ready for the temple and find that there water is not coming in the washroom. We call Selva who says "oh. The overhead tank must be empty. Will come and switch on the motor". It took about 20 minutes for the water to come in the taps. Selva is an interesting character. Whatever you ask, he says 2 seconds sir. I am coming. He keeps insisting that everything is OK, despite you explaining the problem clearly. Both Ms. Deepa and Selvakumar are nice people and are polite/prompt in their responses. But just being nice will not help if the facilities and services provided are substandard. I felt cheated. There was nothing "spiritual" about my stay. My suggestion to folks wanting to stay at this place is, you ask these guys to send you a video of the room allotted to you when you make the booking and ensure that you get only that room allotted to you. After my experience, I am very skeptical about Google reviews.

Selva kumar is one of the best caretaker. He took care of our needs though it is not mandatory to him. Recommend this place too. This place has very good positive vibe.

Chidambaram spiritual stay is the best place to stay as it's close Chidambaram temple and restaurant. 5 mins drive. Rooms with a reasonable price and clean. Small draw back was single room for 4 people was too small as there is no place to keep luggage. Selvakumar(care taker) took care of us very well and was very helpful.

I have stayed in chidambaram for more than 5 times, somehow I missed this homestay, one of the best in chidambaram, very safe and clean, my mother who is very old and my daughter who is very young both of them loved it, i would surely recommend this stay, we left out gold bangles and chain at the stay, They promptly called me and returned to me before leaving chidambaram, nowadays who would do that ? I like the loyalty and service oriented attitude of the staff and owner who are very nice people. Thanks for helping us by giving room when we were not able to get any where due to December holidays.
