From trying a variety of South Indian foods to exploring beautiful local spots, he's always there to guide and assist you. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a genuine and enriching experience!

I had an incredible stay at Gandhi Hostel in Chennai! The hostel offers a clean, comfortable, and friendly environment that's perfect for backpackers and solo travelers. The staff are always welcoming and go above and beyond to help with anything you need. A special thanks to Bobby Bilal, the local guide who truly made our Chennai experience unforgettable. Not only did he lead us on amazing city tours, but he also helped us explore the Chennai Museum, find some great books, and even assisted us with shopping at Vijaya Mall. Bobby introduced us to the rich and diverse food culture of Chennai, helping us discover the city's incredible culinary diversity. We also had some wonderful, casual discussions with Bobby about politics, religion, and culture, giving us a deeper understanding of the local life and perspectives. If you're looking for a warm, affordable place to stay and a real, meaningful way to experience Chennai, Gandhi Hostel and Bobby's tours are an absolute must! Highly recommended!

I had an amazing stay at the hostel in Chennai. When you check-in, all of the staff warmly welcome you as a home and family members. The highlight of my experience was the personalized tour led by Bobby. He took me on a deep dive into the city's rich history, sharing insights and stories that I would have never discovered on my own. Especially as a solo traveler, navigating the city using public transportation can be quite challenging, but by his bike I was able to visit many places with ease and non-stress. There were a few short rain showers throughout the day, but thanks to Bobby's safe driving and great care, I hardly got wet and could fully enjoy exploring the local lives. His attention to detail made the experience even more comfortable, allowing me to discover a new side of Chennai without any worries. I was so lucky that he invited me on a tour, and I'm also appreciate to one of the guests who adjusted the schedule since I had only one more day left in Chennai. If you're looking for more than just sightseeing and want to truly understand the city's history and culture, I highly recommend staying here.

I stayed in hostel Gandhi for 3 weeks which became more like my family home than a hostel. The staff are awesome, meals are prepared everyday with love everyone is willing to go above and beyond to help you. The best thing about the hostel is the people I met even tho Chennai is not my favorite city in India I had the most fun in this hostel. We played cards, cooked meals, started a band in our dorm, and shared lots of laughs and love.

I've stayed at Gandhi Hostel for a week and my experience there has been great. The female dorm was clean and confortable, the beddings changed everyday and the bathroom was light and aery with a very good shower to help against Chennai's heat. Whilst there was no a/c during the day - only at night- it didn't bother me much as the room still has a ceiling fan and curtains on the windows to keep from direct sunlight. The communal space was very nice too, with plush couches to relax in and tables to work at, and a library for those who need new reading material. The staff were very polite and friendly and the meals from the kitchen were delicious. I also went on tours of the city with Aroun as my guide, as proposed by the staff, and it was a really good way to get to know the city and its sights with a local who knows his way around. Overall, it was a really good experience, I felt safe and confortable and would recommend the place to any woman traveling and needing a place to stay in the city.

A place with an amazing ambience, located close to the airport but at the same time away from the Chennai's hustle and bustle. The rooms are very clean and well maintained, and the team is extremely helpful and friendly. While staying here, you can also enjoy home-cooked meals typical of the local cuisine, which are simply delicious. If you are looking for a place for a pleasant and hassle-free stay in Chennai, look no further! Ps. Much reccomended for solo travelers, cats & Frank Sinatra lovers!

Hostel Gandhi in the heart of Chennai is a great place. Simple but clean and cheap with very friendly staff who really go the extra mile to make your stay a happy one. The dormitory on the roof was very comfortable. I stopped here during a walk across India and they helped me store my hiking buggy, get some new kit and gave me lots of advice. Particularly helpful and generous was Bobby who whizzed me around on his motorbike to get new supplies and also took me to St Thomas's Mount, the highest point in the city, with amazing views. There was a really interesting mix of people here too, both locals and travellers, with a wonderful vibe. Highly recommended.

I stayed for about a week. Extremely helpful & friendly staff. I was not sure if I'll meet a diverse crowd as I went during off season, however I still met people from over 10 countries, and the experience was unmatched. The caretakers help you with everything, even remind you to eat, and the food was so homely and tasty that I rarely ever had dinner outside. Clean bunks and washrooms, the common area is exactly like the pictures, in addition it's safe for women. It's as good as it gets for a lowkey hostel with decent prices. Also, it's fun to have the cats around. 10/10 recommend.
