Disappointing Stay at A R Thanga Kottai - Not Worth the Hype or the Price We stayed at A R Thanga Kottai on May 10th, 2025, after pre-booking two rooms at 12,000 per room. Unfortunately, the entire experience left us deeply dissatisfied and questioning the value for money. From the moment we arrived, things started on the wrong foot. There was no security or staff to assist us with parking or luggage. Only later did we learn that valet parking was available, but no one informed us. At the reception, despite an advance booking, we were made to wait 45 minutes as our rooms were not ready. We weren't even offered the so-called welcome drink until my mother had to ask about it after a long wait. The staircase to the first-floor rooms was dirty, which gave us a bad first impression. The swimming pool, although initially attractive to the kids, turned out to be over-chlorinated and filled with dead beetles. After using the pool, the kids developed skin irritation, likely due to the poor maintenance. The access road to the resort is rough, making travel unpleasant. Once inside, stepping out again is hardly an option, so you're largely dependent on the resort's services--which unfortunately are not up to the mark. The restaurant experience was equally poor. We chose a la carte over the buffet and ordered dosa, fried rice, and noodles. The dosa was burnt, and the chutney and sambar were insufficient. The complimentary breakfast was no better--undercooked cake and bland items left us disappointed yet again. To make matters worse, the availability of drinking water is a serious issue. Other than the bottles provided in the room, there's nowhere to get clean drinking water. We called room service one hour before checkout to request more water, but never received it. At checkout, we asked again, only to be told, "time is over, so no free water bottle will be provided." This is unacceptable service, especially given the premium price being charged. Apart from the natural surroundings and general ambience, there is little to justify the price or the social media hype surrounding this resort. The lack of basic hospitality, cleanliness, and professional service make it a place we cannot recommend. Think twice before booking your stay here.

We recently visited Yelagiri and stayed in A R Thanga Kottai, Our stay was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality, and the scenic location instantly put us at ease. The resort is a paradise for families, especially those traveling with kids. The thoughtfully designed kid-friendly activities kept our little one engaged and entertained throughout our stay. The dedicated play area and the inviting pool made it a dream vacation for our child. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, and very comfortable. The food was exceptional, and the staff provided impeccable.

I recently (20-Mar-2025 to 22-Mar-2025) stayed at a beautiful palace resort, and the place looked amazing. The design and atmosphere were lovely, with detailed decorations, green gardens, and excellent facilities. it was an unforgettable experience. Overview AR Thangakottai is a quiet and relaxing place in the beautiful Yelagiri Hills. With its calm surroundings, big rooms, and family-friendly feel, it is a good choice for travelers who want to enjoy nature and relax. Pros & Cons Pros: Beautiful hilltop location with scenic views Spacious and clean rooms Good hospitality and peaceful ambiance Great for families and group stays Cons: Limited dining options Wi-Fi connectivity can be weak in some areas Slightly remote location (own transport recommended) Final Verdict AR Thangakottai is an ideal choice for a relaxing vacation in Yelagiri, especially for families and groups. While it may not be ultra-luxurious, it offers good value for money, comfortable stays, and a serene natural setting.

Thanga Kottai is a mesmerizing resort. It has got a beautiful architecture which resembles a Palace, Fort and Greek architecture. This resort is spread over acres of land which includes multiple types of stays ranging from Temple street view, palace view, individual villa etc. This place has a big swimming pool, kids play area, in-house restaurant etc. Restaurant took lot of time to prepare the food post ordering which killed our appetite. This should be improved and food should be served in shorter time. Service people were courteous in beginning but later I felt they were taking guests for granted. I called room service couple of times for some missing bathroom items but no-one responded. Also some sevice people were not friendly/courteous and felt there should be some improvement in servicing the guests. Another important point to highlight is the approach road to this property is very bad and narrow. Some places it's risky to travel during nights as it's steep, narrow and poorly lit. Other than the feedback highlighted I felt the rooms and stay was very good. My family and kid had a great stay here. Will definitely visit again if I go to Yelagiri.

A Hidden Surprise in Yelagiri I was genuinely surprised to find such a grand and well-maintained resort in Yelagiri. A R Thanga Kottai features impressive architecture - while it's clear they've invested a lot, it does lack some of the refined design touches you'd expect from a true 5-star property. That said, the pricing more than makes up for it. The rooms are surprisingly very spacious and comfortable, and most of the staff were welcoming and attentive. However, a few were a bit rigid and didn't deliver the level of service typically expected in hotels. The location is a bit remote, which actually makes it perfect for those looking to relax and connect with nature. The main downside was the food - limited options, lacking in flavor, and no live counters for breakfast, which would have made the experience better. Overall, A R Thanga Kottai exceeded my expectations for what they charge, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Yelagiri.

The service could have been better. Every where we enquired about something we were treated as someone who doesn't fit the place or something. In a restaurant, they looked at us with side eye and talked with an intention to make us leave. since it was snacks time and we were hungry we had to stay. And later, we avoided going in. But we order to room. We preferred the restaurants in other resorts than here.
