The Elgin Nor-Khill - Gangtok - Heritage Resort & Spa (Since 1934)

Great property but what beats everything is the diligent and caring hospitality of Mr. Basudev and his team. I have traveled all around the world and lived in many hotels with plush interiors etc but what places nor-khill above all them is the hospitality of the staff. Mr. Basudev was extremely diligent and caring. Mr. Ajay was great at the reception. Ms. Sharmila was also very polite and ready to help with great insights. Always smiling and greeting the guests to ensure they are taken care of. Mr. Sudip at F&B was excellent at the restaurant and with tailor made care to ensure all guests had their meal which was palatable to their tastes. He individuality went to each table to ensure the same. Sushant at the restaurant was excellent in his service. He took care of all our requests and suggested and served delicious meals. That boy is a gem and deserves great appreciation for his dedication and hard work.And above everything due credit should be given to Mr. Badudev, a true polite and always smiling gentleman who has managed his staff so well and individuality takes care of all needs of the guest personally enquiring about their likes dislikes travel plan etc and giving tailor made services through his staff accordingly. Elgin Norkhill, only for its staff and hospitality, has my heart and due to such wonderful experience I have cancelled my booking in a five star and booked their hotel in Darjeeling for my next stay and henceforth I shall always stay in elgin whenever I travel to places that has an Elgin hotel. Thanks for such a lovely time to Mr. Basudev and his team.

Hotel was very nice and cosy. Not very big. the staff were friendly and excellent in service. We had taken half boarding which included breakfast and dinner. The food was quite good with lot of veg options. The food manager also took our suggestions and prepared specific dishes for us which really needs to be appreciated. The hotel is also close to MG Market where there is lot of shopping.

This hotel gives me feel like in m staying in mahal. The heritage charm of this property is truly mesmerizing, with beautifully maintained interiors and a peaceful ambiance. The rooms are elegant, spacious, stunning views of the mountains and gardens. The staff was extremely warm and hospitable, ensuring a comfortable experience. The food was delicious. If you're looking for a luxurious retreat in Gangtok, this is the perfect place!

So, we had read some reviews and in a town full of lodgings of all kinds , this one has a nice location with a garden . First the good bits - a wonderful barman of 34 years service in a gorgeous ,atmospheric cosy bar knocked up a limited choice but perfectly mixed cocktails ! The dining room a beautiful room filled with silver teapots and salt cellars and art deco lighting . The waiters without exception were attentive and the food a decent spread . The bedrooms were large and quirky with two bathrooms in case of our two out of three rooms . The beds were alittle hard and linen that could have done with being a new batch - old and tired ! |Elsewhere the place is leaning too hard on its heritage past . The dining room is the main thoroughfare for the cleaning staff and whilst having breakfast , there was a steady stream of cleaners and a resident old timer shuffling around with a mop and bucket and then a hoover . A tad annoying as we do not want to be presented with all of this first thing in the morning ! |However the most annoying thing was the location of our room 405 which faced the front of the hotel . We were woken up by taxi drivers idling their engines and speaking very loudly late at night and early morning . Not what shy guest should have to put up with ! Our room was above the kitchen and work started with done clatter at 5am and ended late into the night accompanied by the hum of the extractor . So avoid rooms 405 and 505 .

Property was amazing location wise ambient wise. Raj Kishore ji was great at hospitality at dinner place. if u are lucky u cab watch a free league match as sikkim football stadium is greatly visible from property. ||The buffet spread and taste were good too

Everything about this hotel is excellent. Highly recommended. Food so delicious and hygienic. Staff, service is extraordinary. Rooms are neat and clean. Would love to come back here again. The outside garden and Terrace are the wonderful places to relax.

Highest level of hospitality ! Top quality food ranging from Soups to salads to Momos to Parathas to Rice favourites.. each item with its top class !! Services of staff unbelievable for the understanding of customers, modesty, affection as seen highest at Restaurant, Reception & also well supported by House keeping staff ! It's an experience over & above so called 5 & 7 stars hotels !! Rajkishor & Ganesh at restaurant are worth highest appreciation for their qualities ! Oh amazing stay, Room was amazing. The staff very loving and caring. We loved the way they served us breakfast and dinner. |The staff asked us lovingly should we bring any food for youll. And they were always around to serve us. |Food was excellent.|Will miss the all the staff.
