Location is also great as it is in walking distance from MG Marg Mall area. Moreover, the walk is on flat road, no ascent or decent is involved, except for about 50 meters immediately in front of property. Hotel has great lobby area, dining area at the ground floor, but kitchen service was unavailable when I visited. The property has an elevator but was out of service for guests when I visited. Room is large enough with king size bed, seating facilities, reading table, small Almirah. Electric kettle was there in the room. Washroom was spacious. Absence of Kitchen Service was a negative point. However few mediocre restaurants available in vicinity. Another negative point is absence of 24hrs running hot water, the service is only available from 6 am to 9 am. This hotel advertises itself for free parking. Though parking is there, it is very tricky to enter and exit though that steep down slope, directly opening to the busy road. And space within the parking area is occupied by cars and bikes of local people, leaving less amount of space. And one has to leave the car keys at hotel front desk, which I felt very awkward. I'll never choose this hotel again if I bring my own car. Else it is very good.

Would not recommend this place to anyone! 1. We booked 2 rooms through Booking.com but the hotel required a partial payment to confirm the stay. However on the app the booking can be made without payment. Because we missed their email about the payment requirement - one of our room was given to someone else. We were unaware of this until we reached the property. 2. The staff here is clueless about how to deal with guests. The owners are over working their staff and when we go to them with any queries they openly tell us "my shift is over. I am already over worked here and I cannot help you with anything." This was sad to hear. 3. The worst part about this hotel? Their hot water works only 3 hours in the morning (6-9AM) and 3 hours in the evening (6-9PM)... How is this fair for cold city?! We had to take a cold water shower because of this stupid electricity saving concept but we paid 3,600 rupees for a one night stay! 4. One good thing about the property - the room had a good view and in the morning we got a glimpse of Mt Kanchenjunga

This hotel is a scam. I've alerted booking.com and will follow this up further as they are aiding fraud in my opinion. All the reviews on their website are clearly added by the hotel. Except one that I found from November 24 stating this is the worst hotel this person ever experienced. I have to agree. Nothing, absolutely that you see on the website is correct. Here is a summary: The rooms are tired and run down. The linen, pillows and towels are dirty. The "slippers" were two old used thongs. The lift still doesn't work. (Same issue as back in November). The restaurant is permanently closed. The safes are all locked and, according to the receptionist, our of order. Toiletries was the tiniest soap I've ever seen and two small satchels of shampoo. The balcony door didn't close properly, despite there even being a sign on it warning for monkeys. No fridge. I also discovered that the listed phone number on booking.com doesn't match that on their own website. They contacted us via Whatsapp as soon as I made the booking asking for a deposit. I contacted booking.com then as I felt that was inappropriate. I am dumbfounded that they still promote this property after all the negative feedback and example of fraudulent behaviour. They made us pay cash as we checked in. Fortunately we didn't have the full amount doe the 7 nights. Apparently they don't take cards. We left after one night and we will ask booking.com back for the difference of what we should have aid and what we got back. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL

The worst hotel I've ever seen.!! The room we got was way different from the one we booked. Cleanliness was severely lacking throughout the premises. Used towels, used bed, biscuit crumbs in the drawers, thick layer of dust on tables etc etc The level of hospitality provided was far from satisfactory. Guests deserve a more welcoming and hygienic environment. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel to avoid ruining your trip

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! In travels to well over 150 countries this would have to be one of the all time worst properties I have ever had the misfortune to come across. This hotel is DISGUSTING. Its profile on booking.com is 'essentially' fake. It DOES NOT provide any of the services listed and the photographs listed in booking.com do not accurately represent the experience you need to endure. It promises that it provides the following: an elevator, not functioning, a restaurant - not open, wifi that is turned off at night, hot water - only available between 0600-0900 ( but only warm) & again 1800-2100 (only slightly warm) Rooms were "very well used", tired and dirty... that includes the bed linen, towels and floors. Door bell didn't work, neither did the in-room telephone, or the in-room safe or even the air conditioner. The balcony door could not be locked despite a sign saying it needed to be to prevent monkeys from entering. The room was supposed to have a fridge - it didn't, provide slippers - it provided a pair of very pre loved thongs, but each foot was a different size! It also promised an assortment of bathroom toiletries - but all that was there was a very tiny bar of soap. It was rated as 9.4 and 4 star by booking.con - but in the real world would be pushing to reach 1 star! ( but 1 is the least you can choose) We were not the only in-house guests complaining. The manager who refused to meet in person ( he was at a sister property l was led to believe) would only communicate by phone, and appeared only interested in payment. I was asked to pay in cash upon arrival as card payments were not accepted ( this was not mentioned anywhere prior). Thankfully l didn't have enough to pay for the entire stay as it turned out, as we left after one night. Upon waking in the morning l was surprised to find my booking for 7 nights CANCELLED! Although I had already reached out to booking.com to lodge my extreme dissatisfaction, I at no point even hinted at cancelling to them. So understandably was most surprised to see this action had be initiated outside of myself and booking platform. The hotel refused to provide a full refund but instead charged an inflated overnight rate when what was available for that 1 night ( screenshot in my possession) was considerably cheaper. I will be asking booking.com to fund the difference. Comments on google show other complaints similar to mine ... this property should NOT be promoted by any platform as it amounts to them aiding fraud and cheating any potential customers. I too have brought this point up to the booking platform too. Learn from my experience and stay well away!

If only there was an option to give a zero rating i would happily do so. Plz dont go by what is written by them. There is heaven and hell difference between what the hotel states on website and what is actually provided. You will need to chase the whole day to get one bottle of water to drink or for a cup of tea and it will never be given. Additionally there is no room service and there is jo hygiene maintained. There are better options available in this price range. Absolutely disgusting service.

Beware of Tara Palace Resort and Spa Hotel, Gangtok.|While reading review of Peter S of Berlin, Germany that he experienced Terrible Service and Dishonest Staff, and the receptionist was rude and unhelpful etc. |and found other tourist reviews that hotel is not clean, breakfast not proper and served very late etc; I canceled my booking made in advance through booking.com of Tara Palace Resort and Spa and asked to refund 25% Rs.9,000/- paid through its Punjab and Sindh Branch bank account. The said hotel failed to reply of my email and played a game on mobile phone as if he was talking to someone in the hotel and cut the phone thrice. It is my good luck that I found other and better hotel to make reservation in advanced. |Prasad Bhatt

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I found the owner's contact on Google and finalized the booking over a phone call. He assured us of a balcony-view room and confirmed the hot water timings as mentioned at the reception. However, upon arrival, we were given a much smaller room without a view. When we raised this issue, they demanded an extra 1,000 for an upgrade. Reluctantly, we paid the amount, only to discover that there was no hot water available, despite the temperature being around 10degC. Instead, they handed us a rod to heat the water manually. The next night, the hotel experienced a power outage, leaving us without electricity for the entire night. Our phones were dead, and we had no means to heat water. When we complained, the manager and front desk staff were unhelpful, and several other guests were facing similar issues. Frustrated, I contacted the owner to request a 50% refund, as the services promised were not provided. Instead of addressing our concerns, he spoke to us rudely and even denied ever promising a balcony-view room. Left with no other option, we called the police. The officers arrived within 15-20 minutes, assessed the situation, and helped negotiate a settlement of a 30% refund. The manager even signed a written confirmation in their presence, stating that we would receive the refund within 24 hours. However, four days later, after repeatedly following up, the owner shockingly informed us that we would not be getting any refund. To make matters worse, he even threatened to file a police complaint against me and my friends. This was by far the worst hotel experience of my travels. I strongly urge everyone to avoid this hotel at all costs.
