Lavanaya Retreat

One of the best hotel in gangtok. This hotel is 2.5 km from MG Marg. Rooms are well maintained, geyser is working properly, staffs are also helpful, it has dining area , it is a budget hotel in gangtok.

I have visited Sikkim recently on 27th Jan-1st Feb'18 and stayed in Lavanya for 5 nights and 6 days with my parents.The hotel is good and the staff are also courteous and polite. But the food quality was not up to the mark, except on the first day when we had Puri Sabji for breakfast it was tasty.One night during the stay, I asked for a vegetable soup but instead they got me a soupy Maggie with vegetables and lots of chilli. They didn't know how to make a veg soup I guess.Overall the stay was pleasant but they have to work on their food quality as its a cold place and we tend to feel more hungry so they need to have more food options.

We, some five Assistant Professors from the National Institute of Technology Sikkim went for a weekend tour to North Sikkim. We stayed at Lavanya Retreat for two nights (06/04/2018 and 08/04/2018), for first day at Gangtok and while returning from North Sikkim. It happened to be the inaugural day of the hotel under the new lease owner, Mr. Subhash Chandra Saw, and we were the first guests! Though this hotel on Upper Sichey is quite old and well known. The hotel is situated on the Upper Sichey Link Rpad, about five minutes drive from MG Marg. The hotel is in a quiet location, and is in relatively posh, quaint area. Some other well known luxurious hotels are also situated in this area. The rooms were excellent, well decorated with well furnished toilets. The hotel also have a restaurant in ground floor capable of serving 20-25 people. The hotel owner and the staff were very courteous. The staff were very prompt, well mannered in their room service. The food was very good, particularly the Bengali dishes. The hotel arranged for our travel to Gurudongmar and back via Lachen. They arranged for the permits also. The given Zylo car and the driver was excellent for travels in such treacherous roads of North Sikkim. The hotel owner has good connections all over Sikkim, and they arranged our stay in Holiday Inn, Lachen. Even the people at Holiday Inn, Lachen were excellent in regard to hotel rooms, food, staff etc. Overall we had a great tour courtesy Lavanya Retreat is it's present owner, Mr. Saw. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for mid-budget travellers.

I would like to share my experience regarding this hotel, where I along with my wife stayed from 25th April to 30th May. |1.First of all, infrastructure of hotel is satisfactory except approach road ,which is a big negative. After evening, it is difficult to go for walk on a dark and kutcha Street, which is unexpected. |2. Most important thing of hotel, i. e. hospitality, which is poor due to some of lazy staff particularly Zafar. He appears to be owner in absence of real owner . Most of the time, he along with other staff occupies a room on first floor and enjoys there. This is really amazing. After having no response from reception, I used personally to go to that room on first floor to ask them for any help. |There are several hotels in better location in the same price range and so one must avoid this hotel.

We had been there for a family outing.. the hotel was good as in the rooms were nice and spacious. But the only problem is it is a little far from the main mall road or the bus stop. it takes around 100 rs from the main mall road. But again i would like to mention the stay was good and rooms were clean and staffs good.

Nice Hotel, 1.8 Km from MG Market, Gangtok towards Tibetian Jhora, Sichey. Foods are very nice as like as the owner, Sagar da. All facilities like hot water supply in rooms, serving homely foods, package bookings are provided by them..

Last week I went there ...the location of the hotel is very bad, they do not hv lift...I was provided with a very dirty and dingy room..their food quality is 3rd graded...no intercom so no services available...do not go there you will be at hell ....the worst hotel in Gangtok
