Alaya Resort, Gangtok

The new name of this resort is Sumitel Gangtok, handled by Sumit Yashshree Group of Hotels. Rooms are clean and well decorated however the standard rooms are just okay type. Food is good. Location is far from the center i.e. MG marg. You have to book a cab all the time and it will take around 300-350 per trip.

The ambience stands out with rooms with great views. The third floor terrace is a must to check out. ||Had a couple of hiccups with room service but more than ideal stay.||The staff was supportive enough to cater to personal requests and the food was to our taste

I have stayed at Sumi Yashashree Hotel for two days with my family at their Mall Road branch. This is a 4-star property located within 2 minute's walk from the Mall Road. I am impressed by the hotel starting from their rooms to their food, their service and of course, the prime location! Everything has been top-notch!||The rooms were spacious and really aesthetic with wooden flooring. The staff were really friendly and courteous. They did everything to ensure we had a pleasant stay.||However, it was the complimentary breakfast buffet that stole my heart! There was a wide variety of options from Chicken Sausages to Poori, from Muffins and Fruit Cakes to Idli and Sambar. The breakfasts were indeed sumptuous! If you are planning to visit Darjeeling and looking forward to staying somewhere close to the Mall Road, which is the heart of Darjeeling, I would highly recommend checking out this property.

We had a great experience staying at Hotel Sumi Shangrila for 2 days. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! The service was excellent and the staff were extremely cordial and helpful. In particular, Anup Usha and Arpan were the most helpful during our stay helping out promptly with any issues that came up. Would highly recommend. |PS - Check the view from 6th floor terrace

Already 4 times in this hotel! In love with it because of hospitality, good food, hygiene and incredible view from restaurant and roof top cafe!!!!! From the restaurant and top you can see Kanchenjanga in all it beauty! |The menu in restaurant will satisfy anyone's taste! I recommend the hotel, I feel it one of the best in Darjeeling!

One of the best stays I would say! 5/5 stars.. if there could be more I would have done that! A special shout out to the Restaurant staff Arpan, Subham, Anurag, Prajola and Pratiksha! I might have missed out on some apologies for that! The staff made us feel homely. The cherry was the personal touch they gave when they served my grandmother lunch in the room!||Overall a great experience. Will visit again soon!!!

A beautiful hotel staff, very friendly. Breakfast buffet was really nice lot of choices. Staff behaviour and services were exceptional. Would suggest this hotel to everyone. Interiors were mesmerising and the ambience was beautiful.

Everything was well and good nothing too much trouble, Great atmosphere, wonderful food and exceptional massage. The staffs were very friendly and well behaved they helped us alot. Would love to visit again.....
