This was the fifth hotel on our Jules Verne tour of Northern India, and thankfully we only spent 1 night here. According to our itinerary, we were due to be staying at the lakeside Trident Hotel, so it was a real shock when we pulled up at the Amar Mahal and were told that this was where we would be staying instead. The Trulyy website promises 'Unforgettable Travel Experiences', and our stay at the Amar Mahal was certainly unforgettable, but for all of the wrong reasons. This may have been a good hotel at one point (and the online photos certainly make it look nice), but it's definitely not a good hotel now (March 2025). Here's some of the problems that we encountered:||||- The hotel is in a scruffy and run-down part of Udaipur and, in contrast to all of the other hotels that we stayed at in India, there was no obvious security presence, which made it feel very unsafe. Huge piles of rubbish could be seen from the windows of our room (307).||- The rooms were dirty and dilapidated, with exposed/unfinished plaster, broken electrics, filthy windows and poor decoration. Our fridge did not work at all, and neither did the replacement fridge (which was also very soiled).||- There was no soundproofing in the hotel, so you could hear every noise from the corridor. There was a large party of school children staying there, which made the noise situation even worse.||- The downstairs restaurant (where we had dinner) was like a school canteen, with drab decoration and limited choice (the food itself was fine though).||- The upstairs restaurant area (where we had breakfast) was nicer, but the food was basic and largely cold. ||- The bar was out of stock for most items. Many of the drinks that were actually in stock were warm, when they should have been refrigerated.||- There were signs in the bar asking patrons to refrain from drug taking (not an unreasonable ask, but we've never seen a sign like that in any other hotel that we've stayed in).||- Reception were unable to take payment for the drinks for many hours due to a card machine breakdown.||- The pool area was dilapidated, and there were a number of men hanging round on the sun loungers after dark (possibly the hotel staff, but it was still unnerving).||||We put in an emergency call to our tour operator and were thankfully moved to another hotel the next night!||||I am sure that the hotel will respond to refute my points, and to suggest that my review is out of line with the many positive reviews that they have received, but it is clear to see that many of these reviews are from one-time reviewers with generic usernames. If you look at my own review profile, you will see that I tend to give 4 or 5 star reviews - giving a 1 star review is very rare. The 1 star belongs to the staff, who were very gracious in dealing with a group of people who were clearly unhappy to be in their hotel. ||||So, in short, avoid this hotel at all costs!

My bicycle tour group stayed at the Amar Mahal hotel for a couple of nights, but we're obliged to leave me behind when they left due to a bicycle accident I had had. My stay extended for another week, and throughout my stay the staff were incredibly helpful and courteous for whatever needs I had. ||The hotel is beautiful, clean, well cared for and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is a lovely pool with both a kiddie area and a larger swimming area. ||The hotel dining room serves mainly Indian food which is good, but they graciously accommodated my sometimes more simple food tastes. There are also other good restaurants in the area and the hotel itself is on a quiet side street leading to a more upscale professional area of the city. ||I enjoyed my stay at the Amar Mahal and will stay there again on future trips.
Even though my stay here is for 2 Nights, this review is mainly for their in house Restaurant, Dawat. The food is delectable, buffet menus carefully curated and the service, spectacular - I would like to make a special mention of Chef Danny, he is a warm and welcoming person and makes it a point to meet each and every guest, enquire about their likes and dislikes and even goes above and beyond to specially prepare a little something to showcase the amazing flavours of Rajasthan, or perhaps another cuisine, if the traveller misses home :) We also met with their Corporate Chef, Mr. Pradeep Chaudhary, a truly very enigmatic personality and I'm sure his Team exudes the same positivity and professionalism he embodies! For the rooms here however, I'd be honest in saying, I'd prefer a room with better and more updated facilities, room space and views - I'll leave the photographs here to give you a visual understanding.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making check-in a breeze. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities I needed. The location was perfect, close to restaurants and attractions. I also enjoyed the delicious breakfast spread each morning. Overall, a fantastic experience, and I will definitely be returning! Highly recommend!
Very good service. All children service is very good. Thank u rooms are clean only problem is hot bath water. Very polite staff. Breakfast lunch is also very testy. All over good experience with us. Please go for this hotel. Must recommend this hotel
Good service and hospitality danay sheif good cook good taste good room service. Like to stay again. Good location. City center nearby near to saheli ki badi great food great service danay cook is good sheif provide lots of verity of food good food choice
We booked the deluxe room and the room was good. However, the view from the balcony was not that great. We had to call reception for getting the hot water as this was not available 24/7 not sure why. Our room was in corner and the WiFi strength was very poor and had to rely on mobile data during the stay. Housekeeping was never available to pick up the call but our queries were resolved by the receptionist. The food was good, but the buffet was not available at the restaurant and had limited items if you opt for breakfast which was not at all worth the price you pay for the Breakfast buffet.
