We had a wonderful time staying at the castle and appreciated the history and heritage of our suite. It was beautiful and clearly the original buildings, architecture and paintings. This suited us well as we do not need fancy living. ||Our host was charming and we greatly enjoyed listening to him talk about the history of the fort and his family. The old photos were great. He and his wife were very kind and hospitable. Their staff were good too and the food was great, good home cooking of local produce||If you want a unique experience you should definitely stay here.

Our stay was great experience.. can not ask for more than that. Room was inside the castle. One can experience the actual heritage culture and beauty of Indian history. If like we time travel back to 100 years. Owner of the property was very friendly helpful, we got a warm welcome. Food was real warm and on time. Very tasty the real taste of Rajasthan.
Live life king size...yes this place will give you opportunity to stay in real castle and fort. You can feel living back in history. Owner of the castle himself welcomed us. Food was best in area. We planned to stay one day but after staying one day we extended one more night.
We enjoyed so much our unique stay at the castle. The castle and the room were so beautiful and special, the food very tasty, the hosts were very welcoming and we enjoyed the conversations with them, great view, the host also recommended very nice proffesional guide for tour shakawatti Haveli. We will be happy to return.
Truly atmospheric rooms, friendly staff and great owner. I felt very welcome.||Rooms are full of character, beautifully decorated and are part of the maze-like fort that oozes history and charisma.||The family and staff occupying the fort are all great people. Everything is possible and information + tips are always available. Feels like home stay in a fort.||The rajasthani food served here is home made and very tasty. I've been travelling in India for total of 11/2 years and still got some new tasty dishes during my one week stay.||Mahansar is small village and by Indian standards very quiet during night. It's easy to sleep well here.
When I travel, especially when solo, I seek places that are amidst nature and away from touristy noise as much as possible. I chose Narayan Niwas looking at the reviews and it was exactly meeting the high praise of guests. You get the feel of a real royal residence here with this 18th century castle and we are lucky that the place is open to stay for tourists. This is the best view in Mahansar easily to soak in the village life around, sights and sounds, birdsong, and beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The room I stayed in (top floor) was basic but had all essential facilities, and of course, great views and aspects of history attached to it. I liked the climbs up and down the castle, reminded me of our own ancestral haveli in Jaipur. The hospitality of owner, Thakur Maheshwar Singh Ji and the staff (Sita, Mangloo) was top notch. I will cherish my long conversations with Thakur Ji who is a storehouse of knowledge and history. The food was home style yet very different and tasty, especially the rice pulao and tomato sabzi, and Dal Bati spread. They also helped design my 2 day itinerary and provided the best guides to me (Rajesh, Mudita) for my exploration of Shekhawati. I was completely taken care of at a personal level right from arriving by train until leaving back for Jaipur. I recommend Narayan Niwas for anyone looking for history over luxury, authenticity over modern-day decor. It is a living window to experience history as it once was. Cheers to Mahansar!
There is no word describing how far staying at Narayan Niwas Castle brings you. A part of History, a part of magical, a part of architecture. Could keep going long. The owners are a couple full of passion and time to share. The best souvenir ever! I have lucky enough to stay in iconic hotels around the world, I stayed in Palace but nothing to compare with the experience of sharing a part of the daily life of the 8th generation owner a 300 years old castle. Nothing moved, do not expect five stars service cause you will discover the soul you never could imagine to meet.|Do not miss the guided tour by Radish which is such an ocean of knowledge.|Be ready for a bit of challenge to reach the place if you decide to join it with a motorbike!!
We had an amazing time at the castle, the suite was beautifully decorated and the food served was amazing! Really worth it
