This was a beautiful authentic hotel in a former royal palace. We occupied a fantastic apartment with large sitting, sleeping, dressing and bathrooms in colonial style. Friendly staff and an excellent kitchen. Its fun to walk though all the corridors and climb from roff-terrace to roof-terrace kby talking all sorts of steps. It's like a museum.

Beautiful heritage hotel with a lovely team to look after you. Heritage is definitely the emphasis in this hotel, including a self guided tour with no less than William Dalrymple in conversation with the current Rawat, Mr Veerbhadra Singh. The rooms are spacious in this vast property and the bathrooms are well equipped. Dinner on the upstairs terrace is wonderful and if you're feeling adventurous you can walk from there up the highest point on the roof of the palace. My advice is to ask the staff to guide you. They are happy to help and if you're very lucky you will get an opportunity to meet the gracious host and owner of the property Mr Singh.

Beautiful palace hotel. We had room 212, nice room as in a fairy tale. Clean and very romantic. Nice bathroom with large shower. Lunch & breakfast was in the dining area and served in buffet. Good food. Diner was served outside on the roof terrace, also in buffet. Too bad there was little or no lightning, so we had to dine in the dark. There is a nice swimming pool but only few chairs to relax after swimming.

* It was a beautiful setting with a lovely restored palace featuring old photos and plenty of authentic photos and paintings . It's like taking a step back in history . The owner is so accommodating and happy to share many stories of the palace and his generational lineage . The rooms are large with marble decorated floors and it's usually interesting to find them as you "maze "your way to them soaking in the many vistas of the palace . The palace was built for the maharajah and his wives and concubines so the staircases are narrow and always go clockwise from the ground so as security measures to only have one person enter at a time and then clockwise so it restricted the enemy from pulling out their swords . You could feel the history with each bend and turn . The rooftop plaza is beautiful for dining and the sunrise views are spectacular. The dining hall was the former swimming pool for the women of the palace . The village is safe to stroll through and get a feeling for authentic rural Rajasthan, watching the villagers come and gather round to buy their jewellery and others bartering for fresh herbs . They can also organise experiences like safaris, going for a picnic in a vintage car and steam vintage rail trip where you are guaranteed to see monkeys leap on the train from the outside . I wish we had stayed more than one night .

This beautiful hotel is set at the end of a busy street and when you arrive you are greeted with rose petals and drums. Our room was tastefully decorated with a large balcony and great views. |The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. My dietary requests were catered for and the food was delicious. |In the evening we were entertained with traditional Indian dancing and music.|Unfortunately we were kept awake until the early hours due to a wedding taking place next door. It's wedding season in India now this was an occurrence which we witnessed in other places.

I doubt if two rooms are the same in this hotel as it is based on a rambling ruling family home. To arrive is by Tut Tut, to take a long walk uphill through busy market streets or to take the world war two converted troop transporter. This I grant you is quite an experience not to be missed.||The rooms are well provided and all have endearing unique features but this is both a blessing and a curse. The electrics are an illogical preponderance of switches and the wifi is dire! The bed, bathroom and all other facilities were spotless and well serviced with some rooms huge and some very "pokey". I have to say the same cannot be said for the building internal structure. It needs a "deep clean" and parts of our ceiling were nothing short of "filthy". There is evidence everywhere of poor maintenance and repairs. It really needs a substantial upgrade.||The restaurant served the same food every night and by the time we arrived, all that was left was curried bones as the meat had been picked and not replaced from both chicken and mutton dishes. Wine choice very limited to two or three bottles. Breakfast was very poor with little choice and "bland" breads and pastries.||Would I go again? Well no! Yet for all that, this was an experience I am glad to have had. The staff were helpful and friendly and it made for a bit of an adventure all around.

What an amazing traditional hotel. As part of a tour we were allocated rooms randomly. Some of the rooms were simply stunning. Our room would probably be classed as quirky, having 5 separate small rooms including balcony area with bed and swing; bedroom; seating area; tea area and bathroom. All areas were spotlessly clean. The restaurant was pleasant, food tasty but limited due to the size of the room used. The bar area was outside, no inside area for cool evenings, drinks were very good value after visiting cities. This is not a hotel for someone who cannot handle lots of steps! Also used the spa for both ladies and gents massage. The ladies was excellent, the gents much less so, the massage was not good, missing some body areas totally and not getting to the deep tissue as paid for.
