Shagun Guest House.

Wow. I just spent 2 nights at Shagun GH and if you want a real Indian experience then I'd highly recommend staying there. It's a rustic old house with a lovely shaded garden, down a quiet alleyway. 30 rupees rickshaw to the bird park and 5 minute walk to the magnificent fort. But the real star is Rajeev the owner. My 2 evenings were spent deep in conversation. Topics ranged from history to politics to Indian society to the environment and everything in between. You could stay at a fancy place for ten times the price, and receive the forced pleasantries and shallow welcome such places afford, or you can stay at Shagun and experience real Indian hospitality, delicious home cooked food and the get the truest perspective on Indian life anywhere.
