Camellia Hotel & Resort's Puri

Extremely well located. Their 3rd floor premium sea facing room gives an excellent view. Although, the lift is there till the 2nd floor only. However, it isn't quite a many stairs to climb up ( manageable). The staff are hospitable. The in-house restaurants serves tasty food. Overall, we had a nice experience.

The Camellia Hotel provides excellent quality rooms with beautiful sea views. The breakfast options are quite impressive, and the staffs are exceptionally attentive.

Camelia hotel is situated at about 1.5 km from Sri Gouranga statue, Puri near Lighthouse. We stay there 3 nights in January 2nd week. The hotel is good & have one swiming pool & one billiard room. It has lift also. Rooms are not large as expected. No rooms has balcony which is expected at this price. Sea can be seen from window over another building, a little obstruction. Beside the hotel a crowded road towards Bengali bazar. For that always starting from 6am a noise is always there.|Lastly, the fooding is not fresh & taste of food is not good with stale smell. I myself suffer from food poisoning after eating that.|These points are not expected from a hotel of well reputation like Camelia.

We stayed at Camelia Puri for 5 nights (14-April-2025 to 19-April-2025, Room no. 204 & 205).||1) They have some irritating practice of switching off the geyser from outside whenever guest goes for a day out and/or they do the house keeping/cleaning the room. From the day I checked in, I have to either call the front desk or the house keeping to switch on the geyser. Please note, there is a switch for the geyser inside the room, but unless they make it "on" from their MCB board you cannot operate the geyser. I find this practice immensely irritating. I even told the front desk multiple times to not switch off the geyser from outside but while they are polite on your face but they didn't stop switching off the geyser.||2) Bathroom commode is cracked (Room 204), no shower curtain in bathroom.||3) After every room cleaning either they forgot to provide the hand towel OR bath towel OR drinking water - every time I had to call them to get those||4) Yes, the service turnaround time was prompt except for one occasion and when I reminded the front desk that I am still waiting for the service and afterwards when the guy came to deliver me the shaving kit, he was quite furious as to why I called up the front desk twice because he has been scolded!||5) While at first glance the room looked decent enough you will soon realise that there are small bed bugs and the furnitures are all termite affected and thus after every cleaning within few hours there are wood dust below the furnitures and inside the wall cupboard.||6) While you will get free wifi here but after every around 2 days your device/phone will be logged out from the hotel's wifi and you will again have to call the front desk for new access codes to access the internet!!||7) Here the checkout time is 8am and exactly at 7:55am out door bell rang to remind us about the check out time and when to collect the luggage!! - Relax Camelia, no one is here to stay forever and guests are aware of the checkout time. You don't need to drive them out of the room EXACTLY at 8am!!||8) The ONLY positive of this hotel is its position and after you complaint or report something or ask something the service turnaround time is fast.||Camelia, you have a looooong way to go before you become truly a 3 Star Property!!

Since we were with an infant and booking was done more than 2 months before. We should have got the front sea view rooms as per request. But got the last 6th room. Service was great. Hats off to the chef for prawns. Mutton curry was nice too. And fish starter was a great to start with. Disappointed with swimming pool area. The security guard or none from hotel helped us when I was alone with 2 ladies and a infant to carry luggage to atleast the reception area. Least that I could have expected. But again food was good .

Very crowded due to the wine shop and cremation area nearby. The view is not that good due to beach market. I would not suggest taking this hotel until there is nothing left in to book which are sea facing. Parking is limited as well.

Few points I would like to share based on my recent stay here. 1. Lack of professionalism at reception. No greetings no smile or formality of being happy when you check in or check out. 2. Rooms are small and clumsy even if you have booked premium room with sea view. No Balcony and Mughal era type windows will not open making the room more suffocating. 3. Charges of the room does not justify the rooms. 4. Washroom are not clean as per the standards and you can easily find worms roaming around near the water pipes. 5. Toilet seats and wash basin are stick together with celo tape as both were broken into pieces and can anytime be a history. 6. Restaurant and room service are good. Food are tasty and quick in bringing up the order. 7. Location is premium, just a road cross to beach which would feel like a private beach as there is less crowded (atleast the time we went)

All good and very good except a few negetive issues 1. The hotel don't have any place to hang your wet clothes. 2. No place to smoke, you have to get out of the hotel. 3. The geysers take atleast 20-25 mins to produce hot water.
