I had a fully refundable booking for the 18th of April, with the option to cancel or modify until the 16th. Due to an unexpected change in plans, I tried reaching the hotel on the 16th to shift my dates, but despite repeated attempts, I could not reach via the booking agent. When I finally connected with the team on the 17th and requested a simple deferral by a week, I was told the hotel was sold out. I then requested the reservation be carried forward to a later date next month, but was informed that it's "against company policy." The refund window, of course, had now passed. I understand policies exist, but hospitality should also be about accommodating genuine requests, especially when the intention to modify was well within the permitted period. For the price of one night, you've lost a loyal customer. I've now rebooked at Taj Vivanta, even though it's less convenient, because I value service and accountability. I sincerely hope the hotel management revisits this approach and considers a resolution. A refund or credit would be the fair thing to do. UPDATE: Got a call and subsequently a reasonable resolution from Mr. Hegde from the hotel team. The communication was prompt and professional. Thanks.

High on style, needs improvement on substance. An old property taken over and renovated by the IHCL Group, flag-bearer of the Tata and Taj brands, The Crown is a visually pleasing, aesthetically appealing property with spacious rooms and a beautifully landscaped compound. When checking in, the baggage is scanned by security. This process took 20 minutes because bell desk staff were "busy elsewhere." Room maintenance, unfortunately, could be better. The toilet seat was loose and the room door did not auto-close. The main restaurant - Zodiac Cafe - disappointed in quality of the lemon coriander chicken soup. The chicken was evidently par boiled and dropped casually into a vegetarian version of the soup. At breakfast, where the buffet is generous and elaborate, when asked by the staff for tea or coffee, I requested green tea but it did not show up for nearly 15 minutes and I had to leave. Self service options for hot beverages would have been better. The bar - Highness - was painfully slow in food service even when empty save for my table. I would recommend that any travellers staying here consider eating out.

Beautiful property with a beautiful pool. They have a huge lobby and the food at the restaurant is quite varied and delicious. I loved the playroom available for the kids adjacent to the gym. They provide floats for the pool. Only sad thing was our room did not have a pool view despite being mentioned at the time of the booking. They have a bakery too which showcases great deal of dry cakes, macaroons amongst other things. The staff is very warm and cordial, ever so ready to help. Enjoyed our stay there.

This is likely the best hotel in town. All my friends who didn't stay here during our trip switched over. It's clean, stylish, and the restaurant is great. The staff is always friendly and professional. Biswajit is the server I usually look for cause he's fun to talk to but the whole team is great. Edit: after a couple more nights here I want to emphasize that the staff goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. I will miss this place.

I had booked a two-night stay for my parents at the five-star Crown Hotel in Bhubaneswar, as I had heard excellent reviews. However, we were very surprised to discover bed bugs in the room, which significantly detracted from their experience. We promptly notified the front desk in the early hours of April 18th. Two duty managers visited the room, inspected the bedding, and recorded videos of the bed bugs. My parents had a truly disappointing stay, and I would not recommend the Crown Hotel.
