OTDC Panthanivas, Barakul

This hotel is much needed in this location. It's one of the only places to stay with a view of the Chilika lake (on the inland side). This hotel offers various types of rooms and the ones worth staying in are the rooms with the lake view. This place is perfect to watch sunrises at Chilika lake. The hotel also has a water sports complex that offers boating and other water sports. However, this area of the Lake is very badly maintained. You'll find a lot of plastic floating around in water, with not one dustbin around the area. The area is generally badly maintained with a lot of trash accumulating on the Lake. The restaurant in the hotel has a great view but very few options for vegetarians. The serving staff doesn't care much about hygiene or the taste of the food. The tea tastes good.

A lovely quiet place. My room was clean and well maintained. The restaurant has some great options. Breakfast was limited menu due to lesser rooms occupied but the poori was good.

Had food at their restaurant. Good quality at affordable prices. But shockingly they refused to accept credit cards saying machine is out of order for past 15 days. This is a very bad advertisement for any government running a tourist place as most tourists nowadays don't carry cash. Imagine having to pay room bills in cash...I mean who carries that much cash nowadays?

Really had a great experience at Panthanivas,Barkul. Staffs were less but the ones present were really devoted and gave their 100 percent to maintain the hospitality. The location is a bit on the outskirts but it has an added advantage(Less pollution and crowd) to it. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and elegant giving a premium feel. It gave a kind of cottage feel. We stayed at rooms 205 and 206. And service received was really top notch. The food was also very delicious and healthy with buffet breakfast being complimentary.

Nice place to stay and enjoy beauty of chilka. Offline booking also available here. Maneger nice person mr.Kar helpfull and cooperative.

Great property but renovation is much needed in the rooms. Though manageable it would uplift the overall experience if the rooms and toilet are maintained well with modern amenities. Good staff. Good parking available. Great view of Chilika Lake right from the room

I liked this place very much, its natural beauty and lake view was very captivating.

Rooms were spacious with a balcony available. There are other rooms available as well with the view of the huge serene lake of Chilika. Location is super awesome as it is located right next to the great Chilika Lake known as World's largest brackish water lake. Definitely worth a try if you like to travel offbeat. Government as well as Private Boating options available right next to the hotel. Their in house restaurant offers great food as well. 6 Km from Balugaon Railway Station where most of the trains on Chennai - Bhubaneswar line has a scheduled stop. Recommended.
